Repatriation
Probably a strange question, but has anyone arranged or know of someone who has arranged the repatriation of a body back to UK.

Please share the information and experiences we are all getting older and I'd like to leave or have a guideline of what to do /what happens

Re: Repatriation
We contacted the British embassy in Nicosia. That can advise you on this matter. In the end we kept my mum here as the costs were over 5k.

Thank you madeincyprus, that is the sort of info I was after. It is in case anything happens to me when visiting, I just need to be able to guide someone in the right direction

It seems a bit spooky, but I was just looking at this, this morning... http://www.brstrnc.com/index.php/lifest ... do-in-trnc
...and before you get your hopes up, I'm not planning on going just yet

Re: Repatriation
I repatriated my wife's body back to the UK in 2011 and it was all done through the BRS. A friend Trevor put me in contact with a very helpful lady whose name escapes me. Anyway it was all very efficiently handled and I cannot thank all involved enough.

Re: Repatriation
Waarigeo, do you know if you would need to be a member of BRS as I am not, just a visitor. It is because I travel alone, I am trying to cover all bases.

Re: Repatriation
Thank you Keith, BRS can offer advice for repatriation but doesn't state if you need to be a member. I can make enquiries & to British Embassy.

Re: Repatriation
Hi Cally, not sure if my reply went through but at the time I was a lapsed BRS member by quite some time.
The cost in 2011 was £2500. Hope this helps.

Re: Repatriation
Hi, when I read the advice on the BRS site, it did not seem to imply anywhere that you had to be a BRS member, and I also found a British Government website that gave advice on the required procedures following a Death in TRNC, with links to the BRS site.Cally wrote:Thank you Keith, BRS can offer advice for repatriation but doesn't state if you need to be a member. I didn't bother to post the UK Gov website link, as it seemed to say more or less the same as the BRS site, but if you'd like to look at it, it's here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... mation.pdf
Sorry for being a bit long winded, but that's just me
