Itchy Rash

Anyone know where i can get tests done for a very itchy rash on my arms, tried so many different types of creams. Think i need allergy tests or something similar.

You don't say what professional advice you have sought or received so far.

The first step is to ask advice from a pharmacist, telling them what you've already tried.

The pharmacist should either suggest some form of treatment or advise you to see a doctor for a diagnosis; that might be the time to ask for recommendations - when you know what you are asking for

Have seen a doctor (dermatologist) but did not do any tests just cream and antihistamine tablets, obviously he was treating me for heat rash, but now temperatures are better cannot understand. I imagine i am allergic to something that i am using ie detergents etc or eating or ingesting something that is affecting me but only my arms nowhere else. That is why i am asking is there anywhere i can have allergy tests done.

If you know where HSBC Bank is, it's easy to find - from the roundabout on the main road, go past the HSBC, and take the first right (Isil Sokak) and it's on your right hand side - the other name that it's known by is 'Kyrenia Medical Centre' - probably best to ring and make an appointment first to make sure that an appropriate specialist will be in attendance - 0533 824 2999

Crebos (or similar). My wife had something the same on back and arms, nearly drove her crazy. Went to see doctor who gave her an injection and prescribed the afore mentioned pills. Within a week it had disappeared. We don't know if it was an allegy or insect bites but looked like heat rash.

Have you used rubber gloves recently? I don't wear them often and have never had a problem before but I bought some pink ones, Vileda I think, and had a terrible reaction. Incredibly itchy for about a week.

I had this with rubber gloves many years ago and always let people know when asked about allergies. People like Doctors, Dentists although it should be latex now. Not sure out in NC whether you could get similar, but here in UK I bought Minettes( very thin cotton gloves) to wear under rubber gloves to prevent any itching. Chemists might sell them.

Some years ago I had considerable itching on right hand only. UK GP said I could go for tests, but it would be lengthy as there were so many things to test for, and manufacturers tended to change contents of products. He said in one place only and no other symptoms it was probably a contact allergy ,So best to work it out by observation myself. I found out I played golf at the time wearing (UK weather) slacks, long sleeved sweater and left hand glove. I was allergic to some plant which thrived in the rough where I often ended up!

It may be you are brushing against some plant to which you are allergic which is why it is arms only. I also get a lot of arm itching here (although not a rash) I think it is because while I am careful about protecting head., neck and shouldes from sun, I tend to forget arms which often get direct exposure to the sun, Have you tried wearing long sleeves or putting a non-allergic sun screen specifically on arms before going in the sun?

I have just put coconut oil on a rash on my eyelid. It's much better . And a friend of ours has just started to rub it on eczema like rashes he's had for ages and nothing has worked. Well coconut oil got rid of it !!

Thanks for all the info and comments someone told me i could get tests done at the lab by the Bella Pie traffic lights so going to give that a try tomorrow, anyone else been there?

I recently got (purely by accident), a shower gel containing coconut oild, and it did seem to be generally soothing Where can I get the plain oil please (East of Girne and approximately how much does it cost?

Pruning plants can also cause itching arms (particularly if wearing gloves which protect hands only).. I find particularly roses tend to fight back and plumbago though it is a heavenly colour sticks to everything - arms , clothes , hair and does cause itching unless washed off immediately. As for thedogs when they have been near it they look as if they are all going to a wedding as bridesmaids.

You can buy coconut oil in a jar from chemists must admit I have not looked in the supermarkets here but they sell it in Alpha Mega. It is liquid in the summer but solidifies in colder weather.
The laboratory near the traffic lights is very good we have been using them since before they moved to their current location but sorry have no experience of allergy tests.
Also the sap of fig trees is very poisonous my husband pruned one a couple of years ago & as he was not wearing a top his body & arms came up in horrendous red weeping weals it looked like he had been whipped & burnt!
I hope you soon get the right treatment & your rash gets better quickly.

If any have brushed against a fig tree during the day will bring you out in rashes and dark red welts, takes days to go. Some sort of sap on leaves during day. I've often forgotten and gone under tree or stupidly picked figs during bright sunlight

Hi there.

I suffer with a condition called Polymorphic Light Erruption. I only appears on my arms during the summer (a result of exposure to the sun). Small hard lumps that itch like crazy.

The only think that works is sun block and might be worth trying.

Thanks to all who mentioned coconut oil; since we arrived in Cyprus a week ago, my son has had extremely bad heat rash (definitely that and nothing else; he has it every time here and whenever (!) it gets hot in the UK) - we've tried various things with little to slight success, but this time, coconut oil has been very effective - not stopped it completely (yet) but after only a couple of days, a vast improvement!

I got a jar of Coconut Oil Cream from Mr Pound use it as a moisturiser., they may have the bottle oil.
