Laptop to TV Problem

Laptop to TV Problem
Have been connecting laptop to tv via hdmi to hdmi cable, but all I am gettiing now is a no signal message on the tv. Any advice and help would be more than welcome.

Switch the TV and the laptop off.
Make sure that the HDMI cable is firmly located at both ends, make sure that you know which HDMI socket the lead is connected to on the TV (HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.).
Switch the TV on, and when the screen lights up, using the 'Source' or 'Input' or 'AV' or 'Ext' button on the TV remote control, select the correct HDMI input.
Switch the laptop on.
If it doesn't work as it should, post back on here.
Make sure that the HDMI cable is firmly located at both ends, make sure that you know which HDMI socket the lead is connected to on the TV (HDMI1, HDMI2, etc.).

Switch the laptop on.

O.K.
On your laptop, there will be some dedicated 'Function keys', often with a blue symbol on them, indicating their purpose. Sometimes the 'Function' shares another keyboard button, so that you have to hold down a 'Fn' key or similar in order to perform the task that the Function key performs.
We're looking for the one that enables you to switch between display modes - it usually has a small depiction of a TV screen, sometimes two screens, side by side.
Make sure that both laptop and TV are still on, and haven't gone to sleep out of boredom ( ) & then, If you can see such a key, press it once and release it. If there is no change, press the 'esc' key (top left of the keyboard) and try again - followed by the 'esc' key again if there is no change.
If that doesn't work, try holding down the 'Fn' key (usually located near the bottom left of the keyboard, near the 'ctrl' key) while you repeat the above procedure.
If none of the above work, then there are three likely possibilities: -
1) You have a faulty HDMI cable
2) The display settings on the laptop have become scrambled, and need to be reset by somebody who knows what they're doing. I wouldn't recommend that you delve into the display settings on the laptop without a clear understanding of what you're doing!
3) The Laptop has developed a fault.
4) Less likely, but possible, the TV has developed a fault - possibly confined to the particular HDMI input that you are using - if you haven't lost the will to live by this point, you could try one of the other HDMI sockets on the TV, if it has another.
I'm sure that member 'samboy' (0533 848 5019) would be happy to have a look if further investigations are needed.
