Alsancak - SIBA / Camelot area now appears to have Turkish water full time, since last Wednesday.
Good pressure, but ballcock in ground depot not quite shutting off completely, possibly due to grit or a dodgy washer - another little job to go onto the list

Mountain side Alsancak, water on most of the time since I went up to 4tl which i am happy to pay Our water comes from both a well and the new infrastructure which is piped directly to the storage tank at the wellhead. Not sure what water we are on but as the water from Turkey gets into the system there will be less demand on our well which was piped all over so maybe we are just on well water.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

Hi goldfish123,
Not sure about Turtle Bay, but any properties that were previously on metered water,
from the local mains system, could now be on the Turkish water.
Not an expert on the subject.

Whilst we were away on Holiday this last week, we appear to have been turned on to the mains, as we have constant water (Alsancak) It may be a testing session though, who knows. The pressure is very good.

We've had constant water in Ozankoy (near Rafters) since yesterday afternoon which is much more than our normal couple of hours every couple of nights so I would assume that we are now on 24/7 Turkish water. I spoke too soon it's gone off again !!!!
Re: Turkish Mains Water - It's here - Latest
Water off for the last 24 hours in Karsiyaka (we are now on Turkish water) , due we are told to a water leak somewhere. Promised to be back on tonight.

We were at the Bele in Esentepe this morning to report our faulty meter (not been working since 22nd) for 2nd time this week and they were talking about a problem with no water at Alagadi, they were working on it. Needless to say our meter hasn't been fixed, must be about the 5th time that it's locked up, this time while we were away so no Turkish water for us yet. I wonder how many times we'll have to report it before they'll come

Good point re resetting meter, that is definitely the first thing to try if you are not receiving water. If, as in our case, that doesn't work then take a note or picture of the error code, it usefully displays the date that it went tits up too and report it to the Belediye. Then visit them every day until they fix it....we have asked for a new meter as the one we have just keeps locking for no apparent reason. We had only been away 2 days when it locked this time.

Apparently Ozankoy will not get the new water for a while as they have discovered some of the old pipes are asbestos so will need to be replaced before new water is switched on.

Make sure that you don't continue to run the pump when the tank is completely empty - you could burn out the pump!Navek wrote:Our tank's virtually empty, had to lift Float Sensor to activate pump

Hi Keithcaley,
Problem solved. Pool water to tank. Now full
Chlorine and pH- will clean out system too.
Pump sensor cuts out before tank empty.
Unless you raise it up manually
I'm all right Jack

Just been up to Esentepe, the problem is the pump pressure is causing burst pipes in the older part of the village, lost water being paid for by the Belediyesi!! For those in my area, they said they were switching it on again tomorrow, for how long they couldn't say, hoping the pipes hold!

One would've thought, in this day and age.
They could've supplied the Turkish Water at the same pressure
as the old Beli water!
Should be common sense
There must be some sort of pressure control on the new system?

Even when you think that you have permanent mains water and its on for days on end, suddenly (as yesterday and again today) it gets turned off and catches you unaware. Plenty of air in the pipes though,

Navek message 77, there are ways to control the pressure in the water lines. It is quite easy to reduce the pressure as the elevation level falls, the pressure in the line will increase and can be controlled with pressure reducing sets. The problem comes when the water main has to climb again, you can not increase the pressure needed to attain an acceptable pressure when the pipe has to go 'uphill ' again. The water distribution lines need to be designed properly, so that the pressure is roughly the same as the pipe drops from the source reservoir to the lowest point of use. I think we will see many more burst pipes until the penny drops.

Thanks for the offer Tom,
Word has it the water will be on tomorrow.
Will let you know I we get desperate.
I have a feeling we for whatever reason have reverted back to the VIllage water supplied from the village well.
God knows what's happened to the promise of TUrkish water 24/7- at the moment it's on for 1 day then off for 5 days.
I'm going to invest in a bigger tank because I can see this being an ongoing problem throughout next year as well. And if Turkey doesn't receive payments for the water they have supplied they could easily turn off the tap.

No chance of that happening Tom.
It's a good little earner -charge a premium for Turkish water then supply local water.
It came on for a couple of hours yesterday - off again now.
God knows why!

Just read the article in CT about water problems in Lapta and Alsancak, you couldn't make it up! Alsancak has said it is rationing water to 3 times a week, which is what we normally get in Yesiltepe anyway, had none since Tuesday so see a trip to the Belidiyesi Monday morning on the cards!

Any truth in the rumour that all tankers will stop supplying water in Esenteppe from the 15December 2016 unless authorised by the Belideyesi ?

Could anyone who has received the Turkish water say if it is any softer than the local water?
We have not yet purchased a water softener & do not want to do so if the water is going to be soft snyway.

Does the Esentepe Mayor have the legal right to stop tanker delivery? Does his insistence that people can only use water he provides at his cost amount to extortion? Anybody with a legal mind care to comment please?

We are wondering the same thing TS. We live outside of Esentepe village and have no mains water, therefore rely on tankers for our water. We do not intend paying the extortionate amount he is asking expats to pay for connection and a smart meter. Can he really prevent us from using the water carriers? If he was charging a reasonable price, I.e. as he offers the locals, then we would pay, but not his Mickey Mouse demands he is coming up with for cash cow expats.

How can the mayor possibly close down the tankard delivery companies when parts of the village haven't received Turkish water for 5 days now.?
I asked why this was happening and got fobbed off with " we do not know " which in English speak means we have a serious issue which we can not talk you about.

Are those in the Esentepe area concerned about water situation joining forces?
There seem to be a good number of unhappy people concerned re the charges and the mayors stopping of tanker water deliveries so wondering if people were getting together in numbers to protest, seek advice or possibly seeking legal guidance.
It may already be happening but have not heard of such a group yet.

We've had it for a couple of weeks and although this week i think its mixed with the local well water because of infrastructure issues. I certainly believe when we had full turkish water it was much softer than the local well water so hold back before buying a softener!ozankoys wrote:Could anyone who has received the Turkish water say if it is any softer than the local water?

Difficult, you can't get together to protest as an expat under current law, the major is quoting some old statute that allows him to control water in the Esentepe council area!PoshinDevon wrote:Are those in the Esentepe area concerned about water situation joining forces?

Difficult one for sure. Still think it would be beneficial for those affected or cocerned to get together to share thoughts, ideas etc and if needs be appoint one person to take things forward as a spokesperson, with the backing of others? Has BRS any influence, suggestions?
No idea if above is possible, but would have thought a mutual support group would help.
Good luck to those involved.
