Cost of excess luggage per kilo

Has anyone had to pay for excess luggage with THY coming here from Heathrow .If so how much per kilo were they charged ?

We flew Edinburgh to Ercan at Christmas and paid just over £40, and we were about 12 kilo over but only got charged for 7kilo I think it was. They are quite lenient with excess luggage, one of the reasons we love flying with them. If you look on the website it will give you a better idea.

I think they charge 8 pound a kilo but don't hold me to that.

We have never had a problem with Turkish. Up to 5 kilos over, no problems. Make sure you have full capacity in hand baggage and not more than 25 for the hold and we have never been asked for any payment.

Best to check with your particular airline regarding the 'Sports equipment bag' - I believe that some airlines are beginning to discontinue this practice, although it certainly was a good free allowance in the past.

My luggage was 11 kg over, not me. ( well OK , I may have been but they didn't charge for that either )
