KAR helps 2 of the dogs from Girne Beledeyesi Compound
Following the continuing working relationship between Girne Beledeyesi and KAR a problem with 2 of the dogs at the Girne Beledeyesi compound was identified. The 2 dogs have been tested positive for Ehrlichia ( a disease transmitted by ticks) and will need twice daily treatment for 1 month.
The Girne workers recognised that they could not physically give the treatment twice a day and asked KAR for their help. It has been agreed that the 2 dogs would be taken to the KAR Rescue Centre for 1 month so that KAR staff could give them the treatment that they need. Once the treatment has been completed they will be returned to the care of Girne Beldeyesi.
KAR are pleased that they can help these 2 dogs and are also pleased that because of their ongoing consultations and working relationship with Girne Beledeyesi that the problem with the dogs was identified and the Beledeyesi workers felt able to ask for KARs help at an early stage.
Such actions can only help to improve the lives for the existing and future stray dogs of Girne.

Re: Girne asks for KARs Help
Hi, many thanks to KAR for helping out with these two dogs. The black & white one looks very like one that I saw at the pound when I visited in September. If it is, it was quite traumatised & was hiding in a kennel & only came out when tipped out (not by me), I would imagine any contact with humans can only help this poor dog overcome his fears.

Re: Girne asks for KARs Help
I recognise these dogs from when I dropped off ''Softies'' at the KAR Offices for the Shelter from the NCCCT 's Charity Shop. The Hut.
Both beautiful big dogs and how they were being handled with care and kindness from now I know were Beledeyesi workers and Kar's Hulian ( Excuse my spelling) was lovely to see.
I wish the dogs a long , happy and healthy life and well done to all who are caring for them.
BBB's other half.

Re: Girne asks for KARs Help
There is so much behind the scenes that KAR does, which they don't make public and İ really wish they would. The general public by and large doesn't appreciate this, just because sometimes they have to say 'No' and then the Chinese whispers start.

Re: Girne asks for KARs Help
sophie, regrettably there are those who demean the efforts of anybody who tries to improve life's situation. KAR does a superb service, even though it cannot cater for areas outside of Girne. Ignore the down-putters and concentrate on the positives.
