Old TL notes
Asking for a friend who has just found some old notes in a handbag.
Can they be changed and if so at which bank?
Thanks.

Re: Old TL notes
Ziraat Bankasi is the only bank, other than the Turkish Central Bank, authorized to do the exchange. You have ten years to change old money banknotes for new.

Not sure if this is a fact, but I was told about 2 years ago that the Central Bank would only change the old banknotes provided you took at least 100tl in. Can't help other than that.

I'm sure that if everyone donated their old notes to KAR, they'd come to more than 100TL !

I'll start it off with a 10TL note that I've got in the car that I haven't been able to 'Palm off' on anyone!

Cally, they can be changed at the Central Bank of Cyprus in Nicosia. It's in Kennedy Avenue.

Re: Old TL notes
Thank you Panchocat but I think I will take Keith's advice & bring them over at the end of the month & give KAR the opportunity to change them. TBH I don't know Nicosia at all since the early 70's....

Cally, that's a really generous gesture,
The KAR office is over on your side of Girne, so I'll try to make sure that they are ready to accept the deluge of old banknotes!

Lol, only 4 notes....1 x £20, 2 x £10, & £1, it's ok I know where the shop is in Karakum/Ozankoy, frequent visitor. I've had them years & when I saw the topic, I went & checked what I had got. Loads of coins which I'll off load at airport on way back.

Cally, I didn't mean just yours!

Sorry, a bit slow there, but I like your optimism and hope a lot of notes emerge from their dark recesses...
