Turkish Army?
Why does the GC want the withdrawal of the Turkish army? This is what the GC Foreign Minister had to say today:
“The success of talks in Mont Pèlerin will bring us within range to complete the negotiations for solving the Cyprus problem,” said South Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, adding that the next step would be to discuss the issue of security.
“The continuing occupation, is forcing the Turkish Cypriots into further submission to Turkey whereas a solution will lead to a peaceful coexistence with Greek Cypriots,” he said.
“If Turkey really wants a solution, she must prove it on the security issue, a failure to reach a commonly accepted security model in Cyprus, will weigh heavily on Turkey and Turkey alone,” the Greek Cypriot Foreign Minister said.
“Our aim is for everybody on the island to feel equally safe, we cannot accept archaic provisions in matters of security which give a third country military intervention rights in a united, European, sovereign and democratic Cyprus or any part thereof,” said Kasoulides.
CAN THEY BE TRUSTED?

Re: Turkish Army?
They probably don't like the thought that a large country with good communications skills could tell the world what is happening - if something did happen of course!
A bigger question I would like answered is this: As the RoC is in the EU (Fully) and as the EU is there to look after all its member country's, then how can you have three Guarantor country's looking after the rights of both the TRNC (Non-EU) and the RoC (EU) when two of those Guarantor country's are in the EU themselves? Would this situation not mean that two of the Guarantor country's are already there to look after the RoC and not the TRNC? If that is so then there is the reason why the RoC want the Turkish troops off the Island whilst it is ok for them to keep their Greek troops on the Island because the Greek troops are EU troops???
Of course once BREXIT happens then the UK has to take back its Guarantor responsibilities again as it will no longer be in the EU - another tin of worms to be opened!!

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Re: Turkish Army?
it seems this is a reminder from the GCs of what was agreed in the Annan plan:
the demilitarisation of the island, incl
- the immidiate control of "military activities" on the island and finally the complete withdrawal of turkish and greek military till 2014 and
- the immidiate start of the termination of the GCs and TRNCs army, eg, by cancelling the mandatory military service.
also agreed was : new registration of all weapons on the island (eg, hunters), incl put up fines for illegal weapon possession.

Re: Turkish Army?
What is the Annan plan surely it's dead and buried as the south voted against it.

Re: Turkish Army?
If the army left when would they return, when tanks cross the new coloured line , or when the first village mosque / school is burnt out ?
