We have just had 4 Lapta belediye men com into our's and our neighbours gardens
and tagged all of our water meter's. We asked what they were doing and were told it
was to check that there were no problems and to see if they were o.k. We also asked
if we were still going to get water and they said yes no problem, but you know what
they are like. Has anybody else had this happen?

Nothing happening yet at our end of Karsiyaka, alongside the football stadium.

But someone told me yesterday that the Lapta Mayor is considering increasing the price of water from 6TL to 7TL per tonne.

We are near Club Simena and had the 4 man delegation today. They said they are checking all meters. They closed my meter then tried the tap next to it which still had water coming out. They were not happy about this and wouldn't accept that the water was coming from the tank on the roof. The next thing I know is they are hacking at the ground with a pick axe as I assume they were looking for pipework that should not be there. At this point I asked them to stop as my husband was on his way home. He took them up on the roof and closed the tank to prove this was where the water was coming from. One of the guys climbed the ladder to peer in the tank and they eventually accepted that this was the source of the water. They then tagged the meter and left.

I assume they think (know?) people have bypassed meters so are suspicious. It may also be that we have pretty low usage of Belediye water and don't use it on the garden or pool. I would suggest if anyone has their pool connected to the mains they disconnect it as soon as!

Now that the Gecitkoy reservoir is almost full and we have been promised enough water for the next fifty years I would have thought it sensible for Lapta Belediyesi to take our money (6TL for every tonne) rather than us paying for tankers at 8TL+ per tonne.
Then we could use it on the garden and for the pool.
Lapta Belediyesi would benefit from the extra income and we would benefit from the and savings and convenience.

JandJ, re pools being connected to the mains. 11 years ago when our crappy builders had more or less finished and were in process of packing up, we were told by them in no uncertain terms that our pool was not connected yo the mains as it was illegal. So that particular bye-law was in place all that time ago.
