Stealth Advertising?
I am suffering many instances where when I click on "View Unread Posts" I am directed to an unwanted advert (Usually the headline Ad). Is this deliberate dishonest advertising or a simple error?

Re: Stealth Advertising?
I think that it's neither.
If an ad has been posted, and you haven't opened that post, then 'View unread posts' will take you to a page that contains that ad - and indeed, contains any other post that you haven't read or 'marked as read'...

Re: Stealth Advertising?
Sorry Keith, But what is unwanted posts? Unread post advertising is new! It is not a for sale post etc, but the Banner Ad!

Re: Stealth Advertising?
I always go straight to view unread posts and I have had no adverts pop up

Re: Stealth Advertising?
I got the impression that he was talking about normal posts on the forum advertising items for sale, rather than 'pop ups'...Dave G wrote:I always go straight to view unread posts and I have had no adverts pop up
Given the number of posts which are advertising 'For Sale' items, it's hardly surprising

Re: Stealth Advertising?
In my OP I refer to headline ads! And later to banner ads! These are the ads that sporadically open.

Right - you didn't say!
These are normally displayed on pages relevant to the part of the forum that posts are situated, aren't they?

I agree it's annoying. I thought it was my fat fingers clicking something by accident!

Re: Stealth Advertising?
OK...
I just thought that the forum had always worked that way.
Perhaps they've managed to sell more advertising recently (I notice that there is now an advertising manager) so that there is now more chance of a paid-for advert actually being available for the particular forum page - but that's only a guess.
However - if it does concern you, why don't you PM Soner and ask him - he's bound to know
Have a nice day!

Re: Stealth Advertising?
If the internet is slow the advert loads slowly and is exactly where the unread tab is, I just learnt to be patient and wait before I tap the unread posts

Oh, so you mean that you get an advert only - instead of the page of 'unread posts' ?snd1966 wrote:If the internet is slow the advert loads slowly and is exactly where the unread tab is, I just learnt to be patient and wait before I tap the unread posts
I thought that he was just complaining that there were adverts on the page (as well as the unread posts)
I think that you've just answered his question!
