What do you do with empty gas bottles that are no longer required?

Take them to any outlet that sells them.

You don't say whether you have tried taking it back to where you got it from, and asking them for your deposit.

Did you try this?

if you did, what happened

If you didn't, - why not?

OR - If it is simply a 'legacy' bottle that you have acquired, and didn't pay the deposit on, why be such a tight arse? Image

Has anyone here ever got a deposit back. ? I tried to take a gas bottle back and they asked for the receipt for the deposit. (7 years ago) I said I don't recall having one. so no refund. Also Ditto with 19 Lt. water bottles.

However on the brighter side you can make a very successful log burner with a disused gas bottle. (But don't try it with thee 19Lt. water bottle)

I have never tried the gas bottles but the water bottles I have always got the deposits back until they stopped taking them about three years ago. It was sometimes quite a bonus after holiday visitors left especially if there were 8 people and in the summer months.

Glad you got your water bottle deposits back and whaatnodeeds, nice photos. I first heard about this back in the mid eighties , our friend who lived on a canal boat made one, it worked well.

Just remember to make sure the gas is all out before you attack it your angle grinder.
