His family originate from Alsancak, then known as Karavas. He was probably born there?

His name was Georgias Kyriacos Panayiotou his father was a Greek Cypriot restauranteur moved to London in the 1950's George was born in East Finchley.

Fantastic voice, generous man, troubled soul, drug addict, public toilet predator.

All in all a mixed up life but his musical legacy will remain

guilty feel have got no rhythm.................though its easy to pretend...etc
