Insurance for the South
Can someone please tell me the cost of third party car insurance when you cross the border to the south ?

Certainly used to be less money if you bought more months. Must have changed in last 12 months.

Sorry to disagree Becker but it has never been cheaper if you bought more months, not in the ten years I have been buying it anyway.......

And I have to disagree, its certainly cheaper if you buy 12 months in advance you save at least two months.

I buy car insurance that is 25 per month but I buy it in 3 month lumps at 70 for 3 months, so it is cheaper if you buy longer periods - that is from the first insurance booth after the passport control - maybe the others are different?

If you try to average out your visits to once or perhaps twice a month, you could consider going across on the first and last day of your month's worth of insurance ( and in between as well, if you need to) and then leave it a month before you go again; this will mean that you only need to buy insurance once every two months, thereby halving the cost!
