Move to TRNC
Hi all
We are anticipating moving over from the UK (Surrey) at the end of Jan/Feb. Can anyone give us an idea of shipping costs of a container although that would be larger than what we need and the cost of the van driver that does the trip. Just looking for rough costings. Thanks.

Hi Both
Our 20ft shipping container will be landing in Famagusta in about a weeks time.
With Euromed and the cost is £2040 door to door xnd unpacked for you.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much that is exactly what we needed to know. Can we enquire how long it took.

Re: Move to TRNC
When I did my shipment last year, I had to use Olaytrans and their UK agent, Greens Removals.
I did ring Euromed as well. They said they would bring their van to my collection points in London, but I would have to hire the labour to load the van myself. They will not box anything (which was fine) but they will also not wrap furniture or other large, free-standing items to prevent damage. (I cannot recall if they offered to unload in TRNC--maybe not.) So, if you are able to do your own wrapping/loading/unloading, that's good because Euromed are much cheaper.
For a full container, and two collection points in London area (not sure this boosted the price much), Olaytrans/Greens charged me £3,443 in autumn 2016. I had 'total loss' insurance but did not insure individual items. There were no breakages.

Eric
Our container was packed on 14th December, left on the ship on 16th December - it is currently in Egypt only a short distance from Famagusta - when I booked the container they gave me a 25 day window for it to arrive but could not guarantee this.
We thought our container would arrive within a week of our arrival but I think it may arrive before us (fingers crossed) - the only unknown factor is when it is unloaded off the ship, how long it is before it arrives at the villa - I will have the answer to this in the next week and will let you know.
If you use Euromed - speak to Cenk or Ali - they both know me.
Hope this helps.

Re: Move to TRNC
Be careful that your container does not arrive too soon before you. Ours arrived, we were here, but we had not been told it had arrived, plus it was Bayram. We ended up having to pay £400 to get our container released because it was there for more than one week.

Could be a day or a good few days. Banks, public services plus also some shops etc are closed.
