Re: Riot and Unrest In Leeds.
The BBC are describing the incident as 'Protests'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-38507300
as did the Yorkshire Evening Post
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -1-8315988
the West Yorkshire Police put out the following satement
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/01 ... ser-yaqub/
So not sure if 'protests' by a 150 so odd people that, according to the police, caused 'minimal disorder and which quickly de-escalated' can legitimately be called 'rioting and unrest'. Certainly so far nothing like the riots that were seen after the police shooting of Mark Duggan.

Even Breitbart News (described by wikipedia as " a right-wing or far-right American news, opinion and commentary website") is not describing the incident as 'riots'A spontaneous protest commenced in Bradford around 7.15pm this evening (Tuesday January 3) with protestors using Shipley Airedale Road, Leeds Road, Wakefield Road and surrounding routes. Officers from West Yorkshire Police deployed to the area to facilitate a peaceful protest and to provide public reassurance. Police empathise with the heightened tensions and engaged with protestors to appeal for calm. They are continuing working with members of the community, partners and local officers to maintain community cohesion and police relations. Crowds are starting to disperse and traffic is now passing with minimal disruption. There was minimal disorder, which quickly de-escalated after dialogue with officers at the scene and there was no necessity to make any arrests. Officers will remain in the area to provide a visible presence and to offer reassurance to members of the public.

Re: Riot and Unrest In Leeds.
This incident happened about 35 miles from where I live. It has been reported in both local and national media that this occurred following a pre-planned operation, following a "tip-off" regarding possession of a firearm. A"non-police issue" firearm was found in the vehicle. Related arrests of other men in a vehicle in near-by Bradford also took place.
Later reports indicate that the person who was shot was known to the police, having been acquitted on a charge of attempted murder, and also as a victim of an earlier (shotgun) shooting.
As also stated, there are several reports of "protests", but none of riots....
These are what appear to be the facts, whereas more lurid tales appear to be (inflammatory?) imaginings....

Seems that way to me as well I have to say.jofra wrote:....whereas more lurid tales appear to be (inflammatory?) imaginings....
Given I have in the past been accused of 'slagging off the UK' for daring to suggest the fall in Sterling is and will affect ordinary people in the UK negatively, I can not help but wonder if presenting what appears to be a minor protest in Bradford as being 'rioting and unrest' is not 'slagging off the UK' ?

Was does 'pre planned' mean?
Wouldn't the word 'planned' suffice.
Or do they mean they planned something before planning something else.
Very confusing.

Perhaps means that the operation was just cobbled together before a proper plan was devised, on the premise of the old military adage - "No plan survives first contact with the enemy"....
So plans are created after operations, to show what could go right or wrong, and what did go right or wrong.... (what politicians and spin doctors do all the time)....

I won't be shedding any tears for Yassar Yaqub, 28 he was a career criminal a truly nasty piece of work drug dealer the police dealt with him and now the problem is gone job done. The police should not be mamby pamby with these people they should hit them hard and clear the streets of them as the Philippines are doing.

Oh.... did you know him personally? The Sun (and we know their record!) has made quite derogatory comments about him, but other reports have not been so emphatic - as I said earlier, it appears he was definitely known to the police - but is it better to deal with concrete, proven facts rather than rabid, (possibly) defamatory branding? Think of what his family think - and what your family would think if unsubstantiated accusations were made of you...

Oh Munchkin it appears you are an advocate of cleansing the population of undesirables as you agree with Rodrigo Duterte's (Philippine's president) comment on drug users made in 2016. "Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines president, appears to have compared himself to Hitler, saying he would be “happy to slaughter” millions of drug addicts in his bloody war on crime.
During a press conference in his home city of Davao, the former prosecutor told reporters that he had been compared to a “cousin of Hitler” by his critics“If Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have...,” he said, pausing and pointing to himself.
“Hitler massacred three million Jews ... there’s three million drug addicts. There are. I’d be happy to slaughter them.”

The Philippino president is doing a first rate job. His people are behind him and want their beautiful country back from war lords and criminals. I wish the UK had some one like this in power to rid the country of the filth. Be it imported or home grown.

Johnnylee, In the press report I read he said he wants to kill 3 million drug addicts. Maybe some of these are warlords and criminals but to root out the few by killing millions seems a little over the top dontcha fink? A bit Hitlerish innit.

Re: Riot and Unrest In Leeds.
Unfortunately there are innocent victims. This is terrible to see that poor little girl. But this is the price of the corruption and the terrible state of that country and this what the President is trying to rectify.
If there are no Drug Pushers then there are no addicts. But it also works vice versa.
The country is in a shocking state because of the years and years of Drug Barons and corrupt goverment. There will be casualties. Maybe you can show a few hundred thousand photos or videos. of the women and children and innocent people murdered by Tony Blair in conjunction with America , in various countries that we had no right in, in the first place..
Yet this man is in his own country trying to bring an end to this awful situation. Maybe if you actually knew how bad it has become there you would think differently. Maybe if you had a live bullet dropped in your coat hood on arrival at Manila airport by the security staff, then you had to buy your way out of the situation, possibly then you would understand the seriousness of the problem.
Can anyone tell me please what benefits have arisen from the UKs and Eu, softly softly approach. ????

Re: Riot and Unrest In Leeds.
Yet your stated wish was that the UK adopt the same approach as the Philippines. So are you claiming that the UK is also in a 'shocking state because of the years and years of Drug Barons and corrupt government' ? Are you seriously saying the UK is in such a 'state' that the government should not just encourage the Police to summarily execute suspected drug users and dealers, without any due process at all, but should also encourage the public to do likewise. That the UK should 'ideally' be seeing 20-30 such executions daily ? Why stop at suspected drug users and dealers ? How about prostitutes as well maybe ? Should the government encourage the police and public to summarily execute say those suspected of working without paying tax perhaps ? Is this really your vision for making Britain 'Great' ?Johnny Lee wrote:The country is in a shocking state because of the years and years of Drug Barons and corrupt goverment.

To get back on topic..... Im sure I heard on the news that this so called goody two shoes was sat in the Audi with a gun on the passenger seat
Maybe he was just saving it for a mate... or maybe someone planted it, or just maybe he was intending to use it
Any association with an illegal firearm should carry at the very least life behind bars ... IMO.

Re: Riot and Unrest In Leeds.
If thats what it takes then just do it. I saw my friend die of a broken heart because his lovely young son became the victim of drug pushers. Last year when I saw the son begging in a sleeping bag minus his legs. (due to prolonged drug and substance abuse). That was also quite upsetting.
Yes Erol the UK is in pretty appalling state and getting worse. an awful lot of crime is drugs related. It would be nice to see the Police shoot a few more.
Also getting back to the PPo video, its probably not a good idea to let your young children hang around with Drug pushers or addicts.
