This morning I received a text message from KIBTEC to say their automated payment system was up and running. Great I thought as I was going to the bank to pay it today. However having been to the App Store, I can not find the necessary application. Has any one else had any sucess with finding it?

I managed to pay online using the kibtek android app and a local ishbank debit card. I was already 'registered' with my phone number and other details. I also had to enter my kimlik card number , so am not sure what those without such do. The only thing I have not been able to work out is how to change language setting to English. They claim the app supports both Turkish and English but have been unable to work out how to get it in english.

Hi erol, I tapped the 'Union Jack' at the top left corner of my screen, and got English Language prompts - & the icon changed to the Turkish Flag.

Thanks Keith. That old 'reverse logic' approach got me - mine showed the english flag so I assumed it was set to english. Tapping it so that it change to a Turkish flag did indeed put it into English, so thanks. Bit of a bug bear of mine that, like my TV which when the light on it is ON the TV is off and when the TV is on, the light is off. Totally the wrong way round as far as I am concerned.

Found it fairly simple once I got over the "Language" problem thing - sat and cursed it for a while, then sat and thought about it, the payment machine in Turkcell gave me the answer and I just tapped on the language I wanted to use - the Union flag was displayed so I tapped on that, without any hope - and up it came in English. First problem solved.

Second problem - Kimlik number - also solved because when it changed to English it no longer required that!!! Now it wanted the Customer Number - easy.

Found the APP on Playstore after inputting Kibtek Mobile!!!

If you look for the app on an iPad you need to search iPhone only.

Doesn't it work on iPads then?

...and I thought that the apple app store only contained apple apps...

Try your Kibtek account number instead of your I.D.
Are you already registered with Kibtek for electronic / text notifications?
Please let us know how you get on.

As message 10 I'm getting the same. Using phone No they send text msg to. & Hesap No.
Tried passport No also. Think maybe new passport No since account set up 12 years ago, could be problem.
What Numbers are others using?

Isn't it easier to get the Bank to pay it by direct debit/standing order ?

That's what we do.

Its easier and better for your health to just wander down and pay in cash! However, the number they are after is the "Customer" number from your last bill or your "Customer" number from your account - both should be the same anyway. They are not interested in your passport number - after all the bill might just be in the name of the last person who lived in your house and they are not even interested in that either! So long as somebody pays the bill for the address they are happy. Once you have input the correct information they will send you a "Text" with another code on it to also put in - then its job done and away you go.

Am already registered with Kibtek and get my bill via email and phone. Have just retried and still getting the same - give up and carry on going to the bank and pay. Just thought it might be easier and nice to have another way to pay.

OK, I will take a last stab at this in the forlorn hopes that it may help somebody:

1. You will have received a text from Kibtek to say their automated payment system was up and running.
2. You will have found the APP, which will run on any Android device that has Internet connection - eventually, by going to Play Store and searching for Kibtek Mobile.
3. You will have installed the APP on your device - part of the installation will tell you if you have any device that is compatible with the APP.
4. You will have opened the APP and found it to be all in Turkish, however in the top left there is a picture of the Union flag!
5. You will have clicked on the picture of the Union Flag and now found the APP is all in English!
This seems to be as far as most people get??? Now I work from memory as once you have done the next bits you can't go back and do it again.
6. You will have two blank boxes to complete. The first is your phone number - this is the mobile number you have registered with Kibtek and via which you had received the "Text" earlier. Fill in your phone number (no spaces) and move to the second question.
7. The second question is your "Identity Number" and seems to be where people are failing. If you look at the electronic bill (E-Fatura) that Kibtek send you on a monthly basis - to your email address - on the top left is HESAP NO (Account Number): THIS IS NOT THE NUMBER YOU WANT!!!!!
Below that is NUMARASI (Consumer ID): (followed by a 14 digit number that starts with either 01, 02, 03 or 04) that IS the number you put into the box labeled "Identity Number".
8. Now press "Send" and wait.
9. A new screen will open entitled "Verification Code", read the message and wait for the SMS to arrive on your device/phone.
10. Read the SMS received, remember or write down the code, go back to the Verification Code screen and input the code, then press send.

That's it! A new screen should open in the name of the account holder and from there you can access the main menu - this is another point where people go wrong. Do not press the arrow in the top left or you get to start again. Do not press the open door/book symbol in the top right or you get to start again. Simple swipe from right to left across the screen and you will change screens and can carry on and play till you get bored!

Pressing the open door/book symbol exits the program! Pressing the arrow symbol takes you back a screen so you have to input a new SMS code!

Remember that once you have pressed either of these symbols you will have to get a new SMS code by pressing the SEND button but as your details are now stored on your device you should no longer have to put in your phone number or Identity Number. Go on, have another play, you can get them to send SMS after SMS after SMS till you get it right. Personally I won't use it for paying but it is handy-ish.

I do have a question for anyone who knows: What is Dilim Kws: (Slice Kws) and why do I find that I have use four different price bands???

Pure surmise; as some UK suppliers' tariffs include price banding (first so many KwH per year so much, thereafter so much, first band divided to monthly portions), does Kibtek have a similar scheme or intend to?
Since I started with Kibtek, each of my bills have shown usage divided into two different bands (Dilim Kws), although oddly only two have shown different prices per band - one bill was 44k/40k per unit, while the other bill showed 40k/42k per unit...
All others, while the usage was split, the price per unit was the same for both portions...

Many thanks Waddo for your complete instructions. Works when you actually open up the bill and not work off the email version!!!! I have paid my bill by mobile now, but what I had to do was pay with my credit card as opposed to my Card Plus from Creditwest as mine is a debit card and not credit card. Will probably still go into the bank as I like to have a receipt but nice to know that I now have another option.

Thanks again Waddo

Dropped into Kibtek Girne this morning - to pay my bill because I like to get out and about - and have the answer to my question. It is very complex but to keep it simple - I hope - it seems that Kibtek have increased the KW unit price of electricity in two ways. If you look at your bill for November you will find that under the Fiyat (Price) column the prices are 0.42, 0.49, 0.55, 0.60, 0.42, 0.49, 0.55, & 0.60 descending. Now look at your bill for December and the same column shows the prices as 0.42, 0.49, 0.55, 0.60, 0.52, 0.60, 0.67 & 0.75 descending. This shows a small increase in prices. However, the big increase may have missed your eye!!! On your November bill (over a period of 30 days - more or less days alters the figure) you will have been charged 0.42 per KW at an average maximum of 250 Kws, anything over that amount takes you into the next price of 0.49 per KW. Here is the change - from December onwards, as well as the increase in price per KW, you will now only pay for the first Maximum of 125 Kws at the first price. Anything used after 125 Kws will be charged at the next price.
It all made sense when I found that in November I used 368 Kws at a total cost of 208.04TL whilst in December I used 354 Kws (14 Kws less) at a total cost of 221.73TL.
All in all is been a good and fun exercise and in round terms it means that my electric charge has risen from an "average" (taking whole bills in account) of 0.565TL per KW to the new figure of 0.626TL per KW. I look forward to my next bill - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.
