Cyprus today,residency.
Has anybody read the story about not being able to renew residency under 65 years old if you dont have a kochan.

A lady (under 60) and her partner had sold their house to pay for cancer treatment. She was told she could not remew tempt. residence without a kocan or title deeds despite being here for 12 years and paid all dues., and the relationship was not accepted as being equivalent to marriage.
They approached the BRS who said in my words that the Government kept changing the goal posts and it would not have happened under the later President Denktas
Cyprus Today approached the Interior Ministry who said that in the absence of property ownership a rental contract and evidene of savings and "how they plan to get by"(!!!!!!) and if the couple approached them (the Interior Ministry) they would investigate and try to help.
Sounds like a storm in a teacup but must have been distressing and worring, particularly in view of another post here.
