Road to Green Hill Cemetery
I was wondering if anyone had used the road up to Green Hill lately. I have tried to book a taxi today to take us up on Sunday and have been told that the road is still to bad to get up. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck getting up there.

According to CT there is a funeral taking place there Tuesday so I assume you must be able to get there.

I've been up there numerous times in an old Nissan Micra. Just need to take is slowly. A four wheel drive is not necessary.
If the track was improved the thinkuing is the locals would be up there like a shot and use the cemetery are for a Sunday picnic.
So don't wait for the track to be tarmacced.

It's diabolical that people have to struggle to get to a cemetery to pay their respects. Come on BRS, I know you do a lot for the bereaved, but please bring pressure to bear in getting this road improved. Dare I suggest some form of charitable contribution, even if this means a loss to other charities?

Something needs to be done as family's are unable to get there for quite a lot of the year. Been trying to get up there to clear up some of the mess the December rains caused. Could not find a taxi in karenia who would risk the drive.

When there is a funeral a JCB is always on hand and the road is cleared and cars if driven slowly and carefully can cope with the terrain. And often the committee have mentioned the municipality have been up to repair the road at this time.
Out of interest are the Muslim cemeteries visited ad-hoc in between the passing of their family and friends, this could be why a tarmac road is not the most urgent thing as they do not understand the importance as they may only visit at funerals and special times of the year.
If there was a lovely road leading to it at present, landslide would probably be a problem after rains but also easy access may allow people with the wrong intentions to visit. How could they ensure the cemetery remained safe, even in other countries where there is more to occupy the mind there is pointless vandalism in graveyards therefore municipality backing is a must.
