Staysure. You can buy online.
You need to be registered with a Doctor here.

Thanks for all your recommendations. So far.....

Staysure online offers expat insurance for expats living abroad, and yes you have to be registered with a doctor.
(As I am not registered with a doctor yet, does anyone have any recommendations where I can register with a gp for free as I do not need a health check)
I understand that Esta offer Staysure insurance also but I have not checked this out yet.
I haven't checked out the new insurance place in Alsancak yet
Turkbankasi offer travel insurance but the insurance does not cover cancellation.

Acacia, One point you may or may not have thought about is to add in any countries of airports that you transit through. Last year I used Staysure when going to the USA, as my transits were through Istanbul and Frankfurt I added Turkey and Germany to destinations list. That way covered in the event of an unfortunate accident in airport.

I emailed Trevor. Did not get a reply.

Since posting this comment I have received a reply from Trevour. The travel insurance is reasonably priced, covering baggage and health. Does not cover cancellation.

Thanks for the advice. I notice that Staysure have 2 levels of European cover. If travelling via Turkey important for anyone considering Staysure to consider their options carefully
