Güneş sigorta if you are under 60 years old. Tried and tested for fourteen years. Excellent.

Thanks for that Laura - unfortunately our experience of Gunes was diabolical to say the least¬!!!!! It took us a year to get back most of our money when my husband suffered DVT on travelling to South Africa - we followed all procedures, rang them immediately, kept them informed and gave them everything produced by the hospital - absolute nightmare - would never use them again, but I'm glad you didn't have that experience

Oh dear. Not good. We haven't used them for travel insurance, only when living in Turkey and now here. We also had house insurance with them at one time and they were excellent when dealing with a claim for that. As I said, we have had medical with them for 14 years now and after the ten year mark they guaranteed to cover us for life. My husband had a very big claim last year and we did wonder what would happen but when the renewal came he only lost his no claim bonus of about 200TL. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience and hope you find another suitable company.

Thank you Laura, that's why I'm asking for peoples' recommendations, it helps to know what's good and what's not.

If you really want a challenge try finding any sort of health care that normal people can afford when they are over 70! Even accident insurance is almost impossible once you get old. Moral of the story is if you are going to be sick then do it all before you get to 70, after that buy a box to sleep in - lol.
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Re: Health Care Insurance
I think the answer is in preparation before one gets too old and decrepit! We were only in our 50's when we took out the policy and as said previously they have guaranteed to keep us on for life with only the normal inflation type increases. We were concerned last year after the big claim as my husband was over 70 but true to their word they continued the cover with no exemptions or increases. One of the big problems seem to be for people trying to find cover too late in life.

We use Zirve sigorta for travel and accidental health insurance. I can't remember the name of the agent.
Steve Dickinson and David run the office in Alsancak, close to Atakara garage.
They also have an office in Karaoglanoglu.
I'm sure someone will read this and know the name. We've made a claim on the travel ins., and had no problems.
Good luck
