Can you still buy tourist packages for mobiles ?

We are coming to Cyprus for a holiday at the end of May and it is vital that we can contact family at home. I have looked on the Kibkom relating to mobiles and also the Turkcell Web site but cannot find any clear info. I know that a couple of years ago you could buy a short term package. I do not need the Internet but just be able to make calls at a reasonable cost.

Yes you can. Lamar and Starling sell them and also Turkcell and Telsim.

If you do not need constant phone access during your stay and have Wi-Fi access at your accommodation, you might consider installing WhatsApp on yours and your family's smartphones. Calls will cost nothing to the UK and you will not need a local SIM.

If you get the package with 'Data Allowance' then you can use Skype or WhatsApp or Viber etc. to make calls to the UK and elsewhere that are virtually free, apart from the data used (and even better if you use the free WiFi in a bar or restaurant!).

Calls via Skype to a UK landline cost 1.4p per minute in Skype credit.

If you don't have a 'smart phone', then buying a Sim card and some credit is still cheap, as long as you don't sit 'chewing the cud' for ages

Buy the credit then simply text tourist to 2944 50 minutes for 1 week . Sounds like you have done it before but just confirm anyway inthink it costs 300 credits but could be wrong and 500 credits i think is 39 tl . I had the tourist package last week .

Thats for turkcell but i assume thats what your referring to
