Landlord/Tenant Law Housing solicitor in Kyrenia
Hello
Can anyone recommend a good housing solicitor in Kyrenia. I have served double the amount of contracted notice to my tenant to vacate my property - however this has been met with potential refusal and an intention to stay beyond the given notice period if they cannot find alternative accommodation. They are aware this is unlawful and the potential for court action and costs. Does anyone have any experience in this and can recommend a housing solicitor please?
Thank you

Just offer to pay him (the tenant) off - a couple of thousand pounds should do the trick, and will be a damned sight cheaper than legal action.
Cash to be paid ONLY after he's actually out - none of this 'half now, half on completion nonsense'...
The rules are so heavily in favour of tenants, and the Avukats so inept that you don't want to even consider going near a Court!
If you like, instead of cash, you could rent him another property, and pay the first month's rental and the security deposit

Sorry to hear this we have had same problem in the past. Most legal firms here will do nothing unless you pay £2000 up front. Then there's no promise you will get your property back. If they have children you have no chance.
When we finally got ours back, was filthy dirty, electric & water cut off. Needless to say we do not rent our property's now. Good luck

I have no personal experience of this, but know of those who have. Mimi2 and Keith have probably hit it spot on. The tenants claim squatters rights and if they have a child then you will have no rights, more or less. If they are locals and you change the locks, then the police will probably arrest you. If they are students from another country then the police might help you and if they are ex-pats then I'm not sure who you turn to but not lawyers unless you have money to burn. Paying them to leave, sadly, is as good an option as you have but don't be surprised if they wreck the place and leave you with unpaid bills to sort out.

If the tenant is still paying the rent then he is a legal tenant even if you have not issued a new contract as the contract just continues.
If you need the property to live in yourself or if you need it for your children then the court will issue eviction notice but I do not know how long this takes.
If you want to consider the court route you should give a proper legal notice as the first step.

I understood that f you had registered with tax office and paid tax on the rents then tenant had to vacate.

Hi Rocking,
I think that the difficulty is that if the tenant refuses to leave (despite being legally obliged to do so) then you are faced with employing a solicitor to pursue the matter through the Courts, which can take months if not years, if the tenant knows all the delaying tactics...
I know of one eviction case that has been going on for well over a year now!
