During 2016 KAR managed to neuter 148 dogs and an amazing 718 cats. KAR would like to give a big thank you to their cat catching teams who go out weekly to trap, catch and transport the cats to the veterinary clinics and then return them to the streets following their recovery.

They have recorded 199 more cats neutered in 2016 than the previous year. Thanks also goes to the caring members of the public who report cats needing neutering to KAR - without their reports not so many would have been caught and neutered. Thank you one and all.

Very grateful my latest doorstep cats were in that fantastic number, and even though the lady up the road has two litters goodness knows how many if Jules did not come around and captured I believe over 10 for neutering

Thank you

A wonderful achievement by a really dedicated bunch of people. I just hope the people who whinge about KAR and are heard to say "why don't KAR do this, that and the other" take these figures on board and then imagine what it would be like if KAR wasn't there!!

I am not a whinger of KAR but would like to add there is one other group that that I know of, that is also involved in neutering as well.

In a six month period Oct '16 - Apr '17, 44 dogs & 51 cats were neutered and with Girne beledieyse promising to partake in neutering it can only be good for the dog & cat population.

Long may it last & the pitiful sights of emaciated & ill dogs & cats will hopefully be a thing of the past......

In addition to Callys remarks, if the general population would neuter and spay their own animals then emaciated cats and dogs, would be a thing of the past much, much faster. Education and a greater respect for animals is crucial for this to happen though.

I went to a RSPCA meeting last night (in the UK!) and we were told that last year there was an actual reduction in the number of animals taken in, They are not sure why but think it has a lot to do with the neutering campaigns are finally paying off. It is RSPCA and Cat Protection policy to have cats neutered at 4 months old.
Well done KAR for all the work you do!
