Winter Wood

Now that the temp has receded a little my thoughts are turning to winter. Winter means cold and cold means my new log burner will come into use at long last.

However, if I leave it too late in the year all I will get is fresh (green) wood that is not only difficult to burn but also is bad for my chimney. So here is the question of the summer - who is selling wood already and what type and price are you selling it at/for.

Answers on here or PM or email or just drop off a free sample at my door - many thanks.

You're best bet is to buy it about four months ago at off peak prices like I did, and to have bought enough to see you right through the winter.

Navek, thanks but information now two years old and times they are a changin all the time. As for the rest guys, I have two year seasoned old Carob and Olive in my house wood store for this winter and one year seasoned old Carob and Olive in my big wood store for next winter already so I am really looking for wood that I will store for another two years before I use it - just don't tell anyone as I do like to stay well ahead of the game.

This year I look for Eucalyptus - fresh cut - so I can chop it and let it dry for two years before giving it a try but am happy to try some citrus as well - draw the line at pine mind you, too much tar!

Whatever I find out I will post on here for everyone, because I am a caring guy with 10 years of wood burning experience here behind me and past my sell by date - so may as well pass on information whilst I still can, you never know when you will forget things or even ..............
