No Water, Mains Problem, Girne to Lapta/Esentepe.
Due to a technical fault in the main relief line in the Girne harbor area,
water will be cut off.
ADMINISTRATIVE
The Water Works Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources stated that water from Turkey could not be given to the residential areas connected to
GİRNE, LAPTA, ALSANCAK, ÇATALKOY and ESENTEPE municipalities
due to a technical breakdown in the main water line of Girne Port region of DSİ.
The statement made by the Ministry also noted that the work could last for 4 (four) or five (five) days.
It is strongly requested that all of the region's related people use the existing waters sparingly.

Re: No Water, Mains Problem, Girne to Esentepe.
I am totally confused.
1. Living in central Ozankoy I was under the impression (confirmed by the Muhtar's office) that we are not (yet?) getting Turkish water. Why should repairs to pipes serving Turkish water therefore effect us.
2. The repairs will take 4 o 5 days , but water will come every three days. I last had water on Monday, so I have now been without for 4.
3. I had also been told that pipes to get Turkish water to Ozankoy were soon to be laid and we would be without water for a month or 5 WEEKS!
Is this the same issue or just another case of "send three and fourpence"?!
"Use water sparingly" is surely a joke and a rather nasty one and the prospect of a month without water frightening. Do the authorities not realise we are enduring particularly hot weather is an always very hot season, and the lives of the vulnerable (sick, elderly an very young) are at risk if they do not have access to adequate supplies of water both for washing and drinking and they are the ones who for practical and/or economic reasons have hardlest access to alternative sources.

Hi Ragged Robin,
It would appear this information,
is aimed at residential properties,
already connected and supplied by the Turkish mains water system.

Jock A number is given in the link Navek gave. I havent tried it yet because my Turkish is not up to it, and I need to build up strength to have another discussion in broken English! If you do try it, please let us know the result.
Still no water here - that is five days.

Navek, thanks for the information and the picture - at last I get to see what the water from Turkey looks like - lol.
No complaints, we get water up here in Catalkoy for a few hours every three days normally, had 8 tons of it last month! Well all right, one complaint: Not too happy about paying the higher Turkish water price for the same old full of grit normal water but the pipes from the mains have to be paid for or we will never get the once mythical Turkish water to us at all. The same problem that Ozankoy is suffering with at the moment but at least all their work is going ahead so they have hope of one day getting the water.
Thanks again it was nice to have news on time instead of finding what HAD happened in CT on a Saturday.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

same here in karaman we have not had water for weeks, we just keep getting told if the hotels need water they take ours, and then we are ripped off by over charging water tankers and were still paying for the other water

Still no water in lower Ozankoy but I am told that the pipework has started so it looks as if we will be without water for some time to - in this heat!
It seems Navek was correct and the information we repairs related to properties already being supplied with Turkish water
To misquote Marie Antoinette : If they have no water, let them drink wine!

Water came at 10.30 last night but it was very low pressure. None this morning and they have started digging the side of the road (presumably for pipes) up from Erdener. Oh what a lovely summer!

Have just come back from Antalya and all OK in this part of Alsancak. However, my point is when the subject of "the KKTC buying their water" there was a great guffaw of laughter all round " WHAT WATER" ha ha ha. Makes you think doesn't it?

The water from Turkey is not a hoax, so if they don't know about it only makes me think ... They don't know about it. Nothing more... Why their ignorance of the project is humorous I have no idea.
