Hi, can anyone tell me if you can use an English debit card in IKEA please, I T would save me buying lots of euros. Thank you

Yes you can & they will give you the option of paying in Euro or £

Always take the Euro option, then it's your Bank that calculates the Rate rather than Ikea calculating EUR to GBP

Martin Lewis is right, always deal in the local currency if you can. And remember using a card in another currency means that as well as charges, you could be hit by changes in the exchange rate between date of purchases and date of clearance.

And I always advise friends visiting north Cyprus to change money into Lira, not use Euros or Pounds and be at the mercy of the trader's exchange rate. Most are fine, but some do see the chance of a quick rip off when foreign currency is waved in front of them!

Sorry to slightly hijack this thread but what's the best way to shop at Ikea and bring stuff back with just a hire car? Leave the hire car at Ledra and get a taxi?? Thanks
