Visa for Turkey

It's years since we flew into Turkey and stayed there, rather than take off again someplace else. Do we have to buy Visas on line now or buy them from a booth somewhere immediately on arrival, which is what happened some years back. Thanks.

sophie, you can do either method to get the visa. The queue at the desk can be long at the Istanbul airports, but you may not be travelling there. Personally, I would do it on-line.

Thanks everyone. Will use the official Turkish Gov. one. Hopefully there are not too many questions on RHS of the screen. No matter what I do to amend it I am missing about half an inch off down the side.

I bet I have to send this twice!! (Yup, I was right)

Sophie, hold down the 'ctrl' key on the keyboard (left hand edge, nearest to you), and while you're holding it, tap the '-' (minus) key.

Each time that you tap it, the screen will shrink by a small amount.

Stop tapping when you are happy that you can see everything.

If you overdo it, you can 'expand the screen a bit by holding down the ctrl key and tapping the '+' (plus) key.

You might need to do this on each website that you visit, but once it's done, the machine should remember your setting for that particular website.

Do you need to have/show a paper copy of the e-visa when entering Turkey please or would a downloaded pdf on my phone suffice?

It says in the link given in message 3 the following:

"After you make payment, the link to download your e-Visa will be e-mailed to you. Passport control officers at the ports of entry can verify your e-Visa in their system. However, you are advised to keep your e-Visa with you either as a softcopy (on tablet pc, smartphone etc.) or as a hardcopy in case of any failure in the system."

I printed a out a hard copy, but no one was the slightest bit interested. It was all on their computers. Don't forget they are valid for 90 days. If anyone is thinking of flying in to Antalya. We had a 1hr and 50 min wait to get through Passport control on arrival. There were 12 booths and only two in use, each with one person per booth. According to the locals its like that all the time these days.

So you might have been, but Antalya were not at all interested. Of course you must take it "just in case"
