The amount of comments being left when signing the petition is amazing! Keep them coming, they will all be forwarded to the UN High Commissioner.

Just a small point but there is a typo in the petition ... it should be emigration to other countries.

Please add the link to the petition to your Facebook page and/or email it to friends and family asking then to sign. I am trying very hard to get this petition to go viral in a short space of time. The more signatures we get the better the chances of getting free media exposure worldwide, the better the chances of the EU and UN taking any form of notice of the petition. We all need to become active in order to make this work. I really am fed up with the status quo of the TRNC. It is time for change.

1800 signatures already achieved in such a short space of time.

"Give up, you have no chance!" - that is what I have been told by an educated TC. It is that kind of attitude that has got the TC nowhere! They need to SHOUT inorder to be heard.

I am amazed at the amount of comments being made on the petition page. Here are some real voices from supporters of the petition:

It's about time the embargoes were lifted and in fact should never have been inflicted in the first place. It's a disgrace that the Turkish Cypriots have been made to suffer all these years. South Cyprus should never have been allowed membership of the E U.

Give back our direct flights to North Cyprus, so we can visit our homeland in peace. Whatever disagreements are happening between the West and Turkey please leave us innocent citizens out of all this.

End the farce of no direct flights to the UK.

Stop applying double standards, stop punishing North Cyprus. Stop using Human Rights Card when it suits you and when it is in your interest.

We deserve to be treated fairly as human beings

I've signed, but am a bit apathetic. EU etc said if we voted yes and the GCs no, they would recognise TRNC. We did, what happened? Absolutely nothing! Except making us get out and change planes in Turkey, so it's worse instead of better. Can't believe a thing they say!

Turkish Cypriots were the innocent victims of this conflict, but both before the Turkish intervention and since, they are the ones who have suffered. The embargoes serve no purpose as a bargaining tool and do nothing to encourage a resolution to the situation. They don't impact on the Greek or Turkish governments, only on the Turkish Cypriots on the island and abroad.

Huge infringement of Human Rights. I wholeheartedly support your cause.

Fairness is key here and as the oppressed and badly done to part of the island is now suffering as a result of Greek actions, not so much Greek Cypriot ones, I see this as a breach of human rights. I was here in 1958 - 1961 and there was harmony largely apart from Greek inspired terrorist acts so who was the trouble maker? Greece not Turkey. Punish the guilty not the innocent.

Through no fault of their own, the people of Northern Cyprus have been economically and politically isolated for over 40 years. First attacked by means of attempted genocide, then vilified and demonised. This in the unpalatable truth about Northern Cyprus. Enough. This is long overdue.

Its time the british government took their head out of the sand and do the honourable thing and let these people live again.

Time is running out for the generation who were the victims of the United nations directive in.1974 it's time for the UN to right their wrong doing.

All sides should be treated fairly. How can the victims be treated globally like an outcast. Time to put an end to the bias.

Wish you all the luck in the World for this most basic of rights. Long, long overdue !!

I am a British expat living in TRNC. The 2 sides will never live happily together as 1 state, the Greek side will make sure of that. End the isolation now.

Despite Greek lies they abricated the treaty which gave Cyprus independence and began an champaign of genocide, for which the disgusting EU rewarded the Greeks by admitting them and making North Cyprus a non country. It appears the EU for whatever reason they prefer to ignore the actual facts of what happened to the wonderful Turkish Cypriots even further back as 1963. The EU should be ashamed of this criminality.

It is time to lift the embargo and isolation on the Turkish Cypriots as was promised years ago. It must be obvious to any one that the Greek Cypriots will never reach agreement on a settlement on any other terms than their own. Direct flights to Northern Cyprus should be started as soon as possible as the first stage of a two state agreement.

I have recently sold my property in the North but I intend to still keep visiting regularly. It is the best side of the island by far. I wish you lots of luck in your efforts. You still have to overcome the prejudice in the UN & of course the EU in all of this. You actually have the solution to the Cyprus problem (so called), the island is divided & as a result you have peace but you must have the embargoes lifted.

The Southern Cypriots will never negotiate a practical solution as long as the embargo remains in place. By lifting the restrictions the result will be a more equal negotiation starting point. Please lift the embargo without delays.

Lifting embargoes will be a forward step in settlement negotiations. It should be done immediately.

The UK Government as a Guarantor should be ashamed of themselves for not intervening. It seems to me that there will never be a coming together of both sides, therefore the only right and proper thing to do is recognise the TRNC as a seperate state, and lifting all embargoes should go ahead NOW !!!

It is utterly shameful that a few die-hard power mad politicians in the South of Cyprus and Greece, (many of whom are still in power or have influence, started the war of genocice against the Turkish Cypriots) can still stand in the way of a mutually agreeable solution to the problem of partition that they themselves caused.

Enough is enough, the good people of North Cyprus, and they are good people, through no fault of their own have been held in Limbo for 45 years or more foisted on them by a vindictive corrupt regime that is the Greek Cypriot administration in the Southern part of the Island. The time has now come to lift these unjust Embargoes because the Greek Cypriot Regime only pay lip service to any talks of reunification, they have no intentions whatsoever of reuniting the Island. 45 + years is a long time to be punished for something that was not of their own making, so lift these unjust Embargoes now.

Wake up stop playing ignorant and end this double standard game.

Lift the injust and inhumane embargo emposed on the Turkish Cypriots for decades

As a foreign resident on this beautiful island living in the Turkish Cypriot part I am deeply saddened and disturbed of other nations’ apathy, by the intransigence of the guarantors and particularly by the decade long brain washing of Greek Cypriots by their own country's powers. Peaceful peoples have a right to live in peace, with dignity and be respected. It is time to end this unenlightened charade of power posturing.

I have lived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus for the past 12 years. Due to the stubbornness and illogical intransigence of President Anastiadies and the Greek Foreign Minister Kotzias the last chance of a solution to the Cyprus problem was blown away. It's time for the TRNC to be recognised as a sovereign state by the EU and the rest of the world.

I totally agree with everything you have stated . It is long overdue, we have a voice and we need to be heard, justice is so long overdue for the Turkish Cypriots.

Give Turkish Cypriots freedom!, we need to live equally to the other nations.

Good Luck. The injustice needs to be resolved without any more delays!

Please give us a voice. Every one has a right to be heard in a democratically elected democracy. We are not living in a third world country. We are Human after all.

Disgraceful when all the world is in conflict this unfair stalemate is allowed to continue. Shame on you nations of the free world.

It is now time to move on, no other country in the world is treated like this even all the countries in the Balkans have been recognised after their troubles.

It's a travesty that this has been ongoing for 50 years.

I have already shared this , but will do so again, anything to help lift the embargo.

Свободу ТРСК!! Помогите Северному Кипру!!

ÇİFTE STANDARDA SON...

Its about time the UN and EU along within other countries and states accept the existence of TRNC and removed the restrictions on flying to/from TRNC. It is virtually unprecedented for a country to have been treated in such a discriminatory way.

The Greek Cypriots have done everything to thwart a reunification, the Turkish Cypriots have suffered long enough surely in our civilised society it is about time the embargo was lifted.

Keep the promise from the Annan plan and lift embargoes and give direct flights. UK parliament are so hot on human rights but NOT in the case of Turkish Cypriots. Come on UK tidy up the mess you created years ago.

The powers that purport to be supporters of human rights across the world seem to have a different agenda when it comes to this unjustified embargo that has been allowed to drag on for decades. This is North Cyprus we are talking about here! Not North Korea!!

We Turkish Cypriots exist
Stop ignoring us

Turkısh Cypriots have been the silent victims of the Cyprus problems, enough is enough it is now time to give justice and allow equal rights to all communities on the island
We have suffered long enough

I am married to a Turkish Cypriot and have a daughter who is half Turkish Cypriot so these embargos directly affect our family as well as my husband's entire family who live there. Please do the right thing, lift these inhumane embargos!

This embargo is so totally unfair to the people of North Cyprus both ethically & politically. The North Cypriots officials have actively co-operated with all trying political attempts to re-unify. It is always the political machine of the South Cyprus government that have not co-operated or put obstacles to stop re-unifications. So WHY continue to punish & make life hard for the North Cypriots.

For goodness sake UN lift your heads out of the sand and show some common sense and BACKBONE!

Politicians need to use some common sense because it's now time to recognise Northetn Cyprus. There is absolutely no reason to leave this small country out in the cold any longer.

Fully supported. Tens of thousands of individuals left in limbo without prospects. No freedom of travel and ignored by the rest of the world.

It's about time that both sides of this story were heard fairly and without prejudice. For 50 years the voice of the Turkish Cypriot people has gone unheard, and their unfair treatment continues.

Keep up the support by adding this link to your Facebook pages: https://www.ipetitions.com/petition/lif ... rth-cyprus
