BBC weather forecast

Has anyone else noticed that the BBC weather forecast, either on the website or app, doesn't find Kyrenia anymore. It quite happily shows the weather for Larnaca, but searching for Kyrenia gives an error.
Conspiracy theories ???

Hi, Yes, I noticed that some weeks ago, a move completely out of step with all other Weather Sites.

Maybe they know something we dont and are updating to Girne.

Or maybe the Bias Broadcasting Corporation have erased the TRNC from their records......wouldn't surprise me.

Not just me then! I had Kyrenia as a favourite location and wondered why it wouldn't load in the last few weeks.

Looks to me more like 'technical issues' rather than political. The Kyrenia 'page' is still there http://www.bbc.com/weather/146412 but has the message at the top of the page saying

Unfortunately we are having problems with this forecast information. We are working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible.

That's what I thought at first but if you put in Larnaca it works and is exactly the same map! The app on my iPad now says it can't find the location

It is not just Kyrenia that has disappeared, but all the locations in the TRNC. Nicosia, of course, is available as expected. It is strange that the TRNC weather locations have gone down at the same time as the failure of the reunification talks.

I have sent a complaint to the BBC asking for an explanation and will post their response here IF I get one.

I always use Accuweather.com

Working perfectly so a case of too many bubbles working at the BBC I suspect.

I complained in the strongest terms to the BBC about their reporting on the recent talks in Switzerland and did get a reply but I don't know why they bothered because they did not answer any of my points.
After Brexit we should aim to dismantle the BBC...

Why bother?! Judging by the type of so called "entertainment" offered by the BBC, the standard of news reporting and the disproportionate payments, they are quite busy dismantling themselves without any outside help

BBC - Government backed, government funded, government voice - a fine place to find old films (called premiers I understand) and a very useful radio station if you live in a place you can't pronounce the name of. All in all, BBC - "Are you affected by events in this area", "would you comment on what is happening now", "Do you have any information on this story"? - I wonder what the reporters actually do when they are at work? They should have closed it down when the last gunboat was scrapped - it is that far out of date anyway. But that is only my personal opinion, others may find it most satisfactory.

Further to my earlier posting about weather forecasts for Kyrenia and other TRNC locations, I have now received the following response from the BBC about the service and my suggestion of their bias toward the RoC:

I understand that you feel there is insufficient coverage of the weather in Northern Cyprus and I can appreciate that you have felt strongly enough to write to us.
Having reviewed the page we'd explain that we are having problems with this forecast information and we'd assure you that we are working hard to get everything back to normal as soon as possible.
The key point is that the BBC as an organisation has no view or position itself on anything we may report upon and please be assured that we are very well aware of our key commitment to impartial reporting at all times.
Nevertheless we do acknowledge that you may feel differently and we do value your feedback on this matter.
I have made sure to record your complaint on our daily Audience Feedback Report that is compiled and circulated right across the BBC.

Very similar to the reply I got after a complaint about the reporting on the talks breakdown...

In other words we acknowledge your complaint but just bugger off as we will do sod all about it......the sooner it's dismantled the better for me.
