I use the salt and boiling water above for persistant weeds growing through cracks in paving etc. because I have dogs and it will not harm them. Do be careful however not to get salt on or near precious plants that you want to keep and do not use in heavy rainstorms when it may be washed onto things you dont want it on! Remember sowing the land with salt is one way of ensuring it will grow nothing!
