Ex British Military in TRNC
Hi Guys and Gals
Im presuming that lots of the ex pats in TRNC are ex British Forces. So who were you with and how long did you push?
Personally I did 22 years in the RAMC. I left in 2004.

Ex Royal Corps of Signals & UN and here in 1973, 74 & 75 based approximately 100 mtrs from the old Airport.
In fact we were in the middle of it when the first jets from Turkey arrived and bombed the airport then hit Nicosia etc before the Marines/Paratroopers arrived.
Then based at Dome Hotel, Girne looking after the Greek refugees.

Also R Sigs. 1967-76. Neither Mrs Mowgli (WRAC Sigs) nor I were posted to Cyprus (Hong Kong for three years instead!) so decided to make it our home after retirement as an alternative!

Due to the present terrorist state of the world , do you think this post is viable for people to say they are ex or serving military ( just saying )

As ex military, I am proud to state it anywhere and anytime (just saying) and I think most ex military will be exactly the same.

Ex Royal Signals 1975 -1997.
Had two tours on the island (1983 -86 and 1991 -93) serving at 9SR in the ESBA. Lived in Dhekelia and Pergamos.
Was also here from 1970 - 73 as a teenager as father was in RAF at Akrotiri. Plus of course many many holidays on the island.
That's why we love the place, both North and South.

Both tours at 9SR were brilliant - I think I nearly did an impression of the Pope and kissed the tarmac at Akrotiri when we arrived for our second tour in 1991.
