Re: recommendation trip to Turkey
We stayed at the Ottoman Imperial, very good and central location. Remember Sabiha Gokcen airport is an hour out of town but coach transfers cheap and easy if flights suit. We used TA one way and Pegasus the other from Ercan, both very cheap booked in advance. Apply for the visa online.
The open top hop on/off bus is an excellent and easy way to see the sights (Bigbus Istanbul). If you like a drink you could take a bottle of something with you as alcohol is very expensive!
Have a great time!

We flew into Ataturk and got a taxi to our hotel, which I don't even remember the name of.
Go to booking.com to find a hotel in your price range.
Wherever you stay you will will still need to get the tram to see some of the sights, it's no problem they are so cheap and run so frequently
Hotels will give you a tourist map
enjoy your trip

Hotel Erboy. In the old town. Walking distance of all main sights and tram. If you go into Sabina Goken. Take the express bus to Kadikoy and the ferry across. Cheats as cops and a bit of fun - love auto correct (cheap as chips)

Definitely stay in Sultanahmet area - it's the best location by far. Must recommend
