Deniz. Mine has a clip on light but must say I have never had the need to use it. Just had a look at the latest ones on Amazon no light mentioned on them or the cases. 7" Kindle Fire £129. 7" Kindle Fire HD £159 the basic one £69. The HD one sounds great so I might update before my hols.

I know there is one on Amazon but I need someone to bring it out if there is one for sale here its less hassle. I thought it would be good in a power cut.

Apparently, the Kindle has a more user friendly screen than your normal tablet because it is designed for constant reading, not that I'm an expert or anything

Go to mr £ they have a clip on light which runs on watch batteries, it is a little large but not over the top.
I used one on our trip to Turkey on the boat this year.

Sorry Deniz, I did't read your post correctly.
The Kindle fire is the only kindle that has a built in light and can be read in sunlight.

I have the basic Kindle and I can read it in bright sunlight no problem, used it in NC.

Re: WANTED A KINDLE
I thought that the Kindle Fire had a (backlit) LCD screen, which would make it difficult, if not impossible to read in direct bright sunlight.
The standard Kindle uses e-ink which is reflective. like paper, so that the stronger the ambient lighting, the easier it is to read - but does need some form of illumination - you can't read it in the dark

Anyone know if you can buy a kindle here, or has anyone ordered from Amazon and had one safely delivered here.

Re: WANTED A KINDLE
I don't think you can get one sent here, to use it you need to register it to a UK address, or that was what I was led to believe and my wife couldn't use hers until it was registered to a UK address
But someone with more knowledge than me may have a different answer

Re: WANTED A KINDLE
There will be a German version that will download german books, but if you want English worded books you need an English version and , as far as I am aware you need to register it to a UK address.
I assumed that as we were conversing in English and the poster appeared to be English speaking that was their requirement
We know what assumed makes
I assume (only an assuption though!) there is a Turkish one as well but my Turkish isn't good enough to read and enjoy a book in that language

What you want is the new kindle paperwhite - just been launched and has adjustable backlit screen.
