Am confused about stamps in Passport
When coming back into TRNC in June and again this weekend we have had the 90 day stamp put in at Passport Control. After the usual flattery nonsense and my reply "Just look at the D.O.B" both him indoors and myself have been given the 90 day stamp. Can this be right? After 65 we get the usual In and Out surely"

Have brought this to the top again. Could some who is OVER the required age and has NOT renewed their Residency stamp have a look in their Passport and see what Passport control have stamped on arrival back at Ercan. Thanks.

Re: Am confused about stamps in Passport
I would guess not really similar circumstances as we are only swallows (starting 2011), and apart from one Ercan departure only, have travelled via Larnaca and Metehan. As such, we used to get the 90 day paper slip until a couple of years(?) ago - since then, myself and OH have had no stamps at all - we're both in 70s.....

No one gets a stamp on a white Visa slip at Metehan anymore, now that they've gone Electronic, so you don't know how long they're giving you, unless you ask
Immigration staff at Ercan still do stamp the Visa slip (or your passport), but whether they're 'up to speed' on the Old Fogey's Rule, I've no idea...
I'll just get mi' coat

What concerns me is that as we live here permently it could be another 18 months before we go out and come in again and of course we'll be well over the 90 day rule by then. That's why I have asked someone to have a look in their passport i.e. over 65 and without Residency stamp and see what they are getting.

If you are a BRS member or know someone who is why not ask them to investigate or ask for clarification. Or maybe just email or give them a call. They may well be able to give an answer straight away or if not they could make enquiries.
It would then eventually be in their website for all to read.
Just a thought.

I meant "the bit about the absence of Visa Slips at Metehan was intended for you" - the Old Fogey part was for S****ejofra wrote:Are you getting at me?Keithcaley wrote:Hi sophie, my post was directed towards jofra, .......

Problem solved in typical TRNC fashion. They don't actually have a stamp which suits our circumstances, so they just put a date stamp on arrival and then write 90 days over it and then ignore it. Job done!!!

surely the stamp that suits your curcumstances would be the date stamp with nothing written on it?

Thank you letting us know but you would have thought they would have just left it blank as they left it blank when my husband had residency .
