Clearing the waterways
I live in Lapta, not far from the Beledir and just below the water tank and waterways. I was delighted yesterday to see men strimming around the water area, and my son asked if they would remove the stuff from the waterways, since one comes through my garden, and has been blocked before, causing flooding. They assured him it would all be cleared! This morning I walked up to see, and the actual water channels were invisible, clogged with strimmings, beer cans, bottles and plastic. I cleared some of them, especially the one coming through my garden, but I did baulk at removing a very dead cat. I collected a bin bag of cans, bottles and rubbish, but it was too heavy to carry up, and anyway, there's a lot more to be collected. It could be an attractive area, and has considerable history attached to it, but not in its present state! There are a lot of fish in the big tank, but scarcely seen because of the surface rubbish, such a pity!!

The cat looked as though it had been white with perhaps a bit of ginger,--it is on a rock, half-submerged in water, in the central waterway as you look over the broken bridge. I wouldn't advise leaning on the bridge which was damaged by a digger some months ago!!!
