HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
I have recently bought the above and fancied a cup of coffee this morning. There is an instruction booklet and one page is (we think) in English. However its the smallest indistinct font I have every seen. Two people have tried to read it (complete with a magnifying glass) but no luck. I have been on web site but all I can find are pretty pictures. Anyone out there who has one of these, or maybe similar type, I'd be grateful for an "idiots guide"

1 Photograph the English page with your mobile phone and try enlarging the photograph.
2 Is the supplier and'/or manufacture in the UK or another member of the EU. If so the instructions are probably in breach of equal opportunities legislation for discrimination against partly sighted and elderly(no insult intended) and you should complain to them and threaten to report to the Equal Opportunities Commission (in the UK)
Ps Yes I do know abou Brixit but it hasnt taken effect yet.

Have thought of that buddy, but all I can find is (as I said on my post) is loads of pretty pictures of various models produced by the company. Will have another go though.

sophie, what's the model number?
Also, drop the instructions in tomorrow on your way to whatever your schedule dictates , and I'll see if I can 'enhance' it to the point of readability.

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
Thanks very much. have managed to enlarge, at least to make it readable. Problem now is, can I be bothered to take 15 minutes to make a cup of the nectar brew. Guess it comes in time, at the moment it would be quicker to get into the car and nip down to my favourite coffee house. I'm determined it won't be one of those machines you buy and then stick in the back of the cupboard and resort back to Café Noir!!!!

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
Take it that the 15 mins you are referring to, are for setting up the machine for initial use. Once you've done that, you should be having a lovely coffee within a minute or two.

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
Hope you are correct alphamike, at the moment the instructions are gobbledegook, but I won't let it beat me. Have fit it up, but even the instructions admit, it might take a few goes before perfecting the "frothy" bit!! Now out to buy the correct type of coffee beans. Not sure I'm prepared to ground beans from the start. Will have to think about that one. I know its a bit arty farty to have a grinder fixed to the kitchen wall for all to see!!

Do you mean that you are not going to roast the beans yourself?

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
I hope so too for your sake. I have a different make to yours, and it did take a little faffing about first setting it up to programme it all. Once that was done though, I get an espresso in just over a minute, and that includes switching the machine on, a latte or cappuccino, takes a little bit longer. Wouldn't be without it now, and never buy instant coffee. Instructions for mine also said that it would take a few goes.
I do have a grinder, and it's not attached to the wall. Arty farty is not on the menu in this household. Just prefer the taste of coffee freshly ground, but here, beggars can't be choosers, and at times have had to buy ready ground. This is where I had to get the grind right, and that took a bit of trial and error, but think I have it sussed now.
You can buy beans in most of the coffee shops, and very probably ground too. I've found kilo bags of beans in Sah, and also in Tempo, although haven't seen any in Tempo, east of Girne, the last couple of times I have been in. Hopefully, they will get them back in, as were cheaper than Sah.
If you ever go down south, they are a bit cheaper than on this side. Also worth asking friends/family to bring some over from UK if they have space.

Can you get green beans here? I've never seen them, but haven't been looking. Really wouldn't mind having a go.Keithcaley wrote:Do you mean that you are not going to roast the beans yourself?

alphamike, I'm told that Uncle Sams sell the correct ground beans for Espresso machines, haven't been(!) myself to check and don't know the price. It could mean an expensive learning curve!!!! (don't take an any notice of KC, he never knows when to stop when he's on a roll.)

Realised you were teasing Sophie, but just thought I'd ask. Might get my next visitors to bring some over to give it a bash. If anyone does know if you can get green coffee beans here, would love to know.Keithcaley wrote:Oh my goodness, I wouldn't know! - I was only teasing!alphamike wrote:Can you get green beans here? That's good to know Sophie, thanks. Am sure they will sell coffee beans too then. It's been a while since I bought the beans in Sah or Tempo, but was 120TL for a kilo in Sah. Tempo, think it was around 90TL for a kilo. Would imagine the ground is around the same price. Coffee shops in Famagusta around 120TL per kilo. I got visitors to bring me some beans from UK, and got a friend to get me some from Alpha Mega, so got a good stash for a couple of months anyway.sophie wrote:alphamike, I'm told that Uncle Sams sell the correct ground beans for Espresso machines, haven't been(!) myself to check and don't know the price. I don't think it's any more expensive, than good quality instant coffee here, and is much nicer.
If there is a selection of coffees, might be an idea to get a small quantity of different kinds, to see which you favour. I did this in one of the coffee shops in Famagusta, bought 50g each of a few varieties.
Have fun experimenting.

Thanks for info Deniz1. Do you know if they have a variety of beans? Being rather lazy here, as rarely down the high street in Girne, but would make a special effort.

For the info of Sophie and any coffee lovers, was very surprised to come across Ozerlat espresso coffee beans in Erulku today, 37.90TL for a 500g bag. They also had ground. Was in the section where they have instant coffee, opposite the Turkish coffees and teas, if anyone is interested.

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
Tried the Ozerlat espresso coffee beans today. Had a good sniff, and didn't detect any disinfectant smell, I'm happy to say, but didn't have the same rich smell as other coffee beans that I've used. I was a bit wary as to the outcome, but happy to say the coffee was quite nice tasting, not the best I've had, but certainly a good enough, everyday coffee.

Re: HUAYU Cappoccino Maker
Very possibly Deniz, as these taste just fine. They certainly don't smell as good as other beans that I have had, but no disinfectant smell for sure.
As an aside, was in Sah today, and the coffee beans that used to be 120TL for 1kg have gone up to 180TL! That is a big price jump. I didn't buy them. If the coffee this side is going to be that highly priced, would definitely be worth a trip south to stock up. I will be checking prices at various outlets to see how they compare.

I agree Sahs coffee beans ave always been really pricey. Uncle Sams used to sell them.
