Dog found in Edremit / Karmi area

MM engineers came across this dog wandering around roads dangerously in the Karmin / Edremit area near Selvi village. If anyone knows who he belongs to (lives with if you prefer) then he / she is currently being spoilt at the MM office in Girne.

That particular area over the last 8 months or so, has become a dumping ground for little lap dog types. Sadly it's fairly close to GAU student accommodation, and dogs get adopted, passed around from student to student and then finally dumped..

Take it to a vet to check if it's micro chipped. If you're lucky it will be and hopefully registered as well.

A friend of mine visited a menagerie in the far east, and all they had was one dog which looked just like yours. It was a "ooops" zoo

We did take him yesterday to a vet to check for a chip number. They did find a number but it was not on the TRNC database. After searching about 20 other databases around Europe for a match we did finally find one on a Turkish mainland database. This gave the owners name and contact details of the vet that put the chip in, which was in Istanbul. Plugging in the name to facebook was able to find the owner there, as there were some pictures of the dog on her page. She was indeed studying at GAU. Left a message for her via Facebook and a number she could call late last night. She called this morning around 7.30 am and collected her dog around 9am. Result

Yet another example of why everyone should have their dogs micro chipped. I cannot understand anyone not doing it.

Micro chipping is only useful if a data base is maintained and if what I was told recently is true then it's just another money collecting scheme with no useful purpose. The veterinary dept have not apparently been collecting the paper work from the vets so no up to date data base exists. I will be more than happy if someone tells me this is not the case, but in the interval I must try and find out if my dogs microchips are registered somewhere.
