Special Section for anything to do with Pets/animals

This is just to remind people there is a special section for pet related subjects. I have to say that I didn't realise there was, and have just spent 10 minutes searching for my post re- the golden retriever we have found. So if you have lost a Golden Retriever please go to the Pets Section to get all the details, or call me on 0533 842 7204. Stella.

Stella: Just a suggestion - I think people tend to put lost and found animals in the main section because it will be read by those who are not particularly pet orientated but none the less would report if they knew anything about a lost animal - for instance that thier neighbours had lost one. Your heading didnt mention the lost retriever and therefore might only have been read by people interested in pets. Sorry to hear owners still not found.

I agree with RR. Most people will not look in pets section and those that do will be looking for discussion on same.

Moderators, the place for Stella's post is in the general section where EVERYONE will see it.

Sorry Andrew but I strongly disagree. As Cih said people would goto the pets section to talk about dogs et, but some animal related stories are of very general interest to people who live here , such as warnings about dangerous dogs.

In t his case a Kibkomer is going to a lot of trouble to find the owner of a lost dog, and it is possible the owner maybe ill or in hospital etc, so the widest possible distribution to anyone who can throw any light is , surely, the very least she can expect by way of help from the Board administrators.

Far more important in my view than threads about a temporary shortage of a luxury ingredient for English food - but I dont complain about them, just check it is nothing important and ignore it At least half the threads on the main forum could be put under other items, please dont join the prejudice against dogs.

RamblingRose, we are here to help, and if you feel that a post needs to stay in the main forum for a while then just let us know by PM or email. I will discuss with my moderators, we are still new at this game so still learning as the days go by.

Just for the record, someone else was a little concerned about a moved post, so I mov ed it back. We need to keep eachother happy, so as soner said, if you feel something should be elsewhere, then just tell him or any of we mods!

As a 'pioneer' on KIBCOM, ie being a member almost from the beginning, I have watched
it 'shaping up' into a very interesting, entertaining and informative forum.

I was hesitant at first after seeing how 'nitpicking', nasty, and domineering people could be on the former forum until, eventually, it was labelled the whingers forum and the interesting people gave it a wide berth.

Lately the threads on the main forum seem to have been mainly, having a go at the moderators, dog related stuff and events cancelled and the whingers from before.

For the attention of newbies, I think, although I could be wrong, that anything which was thought to be urgent enough to warrant immediate attention, eg someones beloved pet missing, so as many people as possible could keep an eye out for it, or an event cancelled, obviously, so that people did not turn up at the venue, would be posted on the main forum for a day or two and then removed to the relevant place.

I have never found this forum to be prejudiced against dogs, far from it, but we are not all interested in how nicely fido does his poo poos or how fifi can stand on two legs and play the piano. If I was I would expect to find it under the PETS section.

As for the digs at the moderators, if people think that they can do better, why don't they give it a go.

Sorry to rant but at the end of a hard day I used to look forward to a relaxing hour or so on KIBCOM. I have noticed that a lot of people who used to post regularly do not now. What a pity that a few people can spoil the pleasure of so many.

Thanks , Soner, : It wasnt actually my post, so I will leave it at that, particularly as it was the op I was actually addressing! She had got over the move by posting another thread but the title she chose wouldnt have told people what the problem was and I was trying to be helpful. Seems to have gone the way of all good intentions!

I realise that the mods have a very difficult balance to strike between different needs and ideas which is why is I just ignore (unless provoked!) threads that dont interest me. However there is a lot of unfair prejudice among posters which hurts those who are trying to help, and I hoped the mods werent going to give way to it.

The silly thing is inthis case it wasnt the dogs I was concerned about - it was the very kind lady who was lumbered with a dog and was looking after it even though not a particular dog lover, and the possible owner , who might have been ill/in hopsital and not immediately see the post - I thought it only humane and in keeping with Kibcom's objectives to give time for someone to see the post and realise the situation. As I said in my post, my nightmare is I be taken ill or have an accident and my dogs stray in my absence and it makes it more distressing that someone who knew me might miss a post announcing they had been found because it had been moved a Board before they had seen it and realised what had happened.

As for BB , I dont think any of the posts here have been about the minutae of dog care and ownership - they have either been appeals for help or matters of public interest meriting a wider audience.

Marion: I am afraid the other case was me too! But that was a different matter, I assumed the moving was an genuine error, probably technical, and as you agreed the new forum was so totally appropriate as the be ridiculous

Stella - I am really terribly I seem to have diverted your thread and drawn attention away from your problem - that was far from my intention! I hope you find the original or a new owner for the dog very soon.

I had better leave it at that ,,and I do have a lot of other things to be doing.
