It normally starts on the last Sunday in October. I've had a look at the hunting federation's website but can't see dates beyond September. It's too much to hope that they won't be hunting this year. Here is the link to their website http://www.avfed.com

I heard the hunters out this morning, hopefully the heavy rain will put them off today.

From their website:

Big game hunting:

5 November 2017;
12, 15, 19, 26 November 2017;
3, 10, 17, 24, 27 and 31 December 2017;
A total of 11 hunting days

The website also has the areas where hunting may take place. http://www.avfed.com/news-details.php?n ... eturn=news

Coming back from lunch today (Alsancak) we saw 3 mother of all 4x4 with at least 4 men each, dressed up as WW11 army personnel hovering around the vehicles. Will have to take dogs for their walk early, before some of them mistake the dogs for whatever poor animal they chose to shoot at today.

We were unfortunate to follow 4 of these monster vehicles today on the way to the Lefke date festival. They had moved from the wilderness onto the main road, carrying shed loads of earth in their deep grooved tyres - my white car looked brown by the time we got to Lefke after all the rain we had on the way.

This from the south... the birdlife of Cyprus (no respecter of borders) still faces a grim future..
