Placing an online order (from Amazon for example)?

I'm hoping to make an online order from Amazon (or similar supplier) and have it delivered here to TRNC. My question is: Is there a delivery company existing here, similar to FedEx or UPS? Haven't seen either trucks on the road. Also, I'm wondering what address I provide - as this is not actually a country as I understand, but a territory occupied by Turkey. So, do I provide a Turkey address or what? I hate to invest in goods, and have them get lost in shipment.

Thanks in advance.

UPS are best. They are the only one to deliver to my door. The others 'phone when in the vicinity and have to be met somewhere they know (a restaurant, for instance). And UPS deliver in their trademark brown van. Most of the rest are couriers working for the big firms.

One option is to ship to the south. I have had goods shipped to both dhl and ups office in south from which I collect personally and also shipped to a PO Box in the south. If the goods originate in the EU then shipping to the south avoids delay and cost as their is no customs or import duties involved. Of course you still have some risk bringing the item over the green line, depending on what it is and what the value of it is but for me this system has worked well for me over many years now.

You can DHL Amazon orders to here. A friend frequently does this.

Do be aware if you are ordering via your address here in TRNC, therefore using the Mersin 10 code, that there is a very low value allowed into Turkey before you have to pay customs duty. The last I heard I think was 40 Euros which includes postage.

Rather unfortunate slip of the keyboard there kayc:"a territory occupied by Turkey".
Some spread happiness wherever they go,others, whenever they go.

That is precisely how it is treated by the UN.

yeah, I know. It was a frail attempt at "political neutrality". Depending upon the audience, the reference changes.

Several months ago, I posted a question on a FB group in Cyprus - and referred to the island regions as "the Greek side" and "the Turkish side".... and got lambasted! Even that isn't viewed as "neutral"

Too damn bad it just can't be called CYPRUS.

Not all sellers on Amazon will send to TRNC/Turkey and I believe this is due to the increased amount of hassle/cost of clearing customs in Turkey. Some UK companies who used to send here - Cotton Traders for example - have recently stopped. Have had stuff sent to the south, addressed c/o Prodomou Street PO, Nicosia as this is the main parcels office. Just go there to collect, taking identification with you. If you Google this post office they have a map on their web page.
