Price Labels/Tags at Supermarkets
Just got back from Lemar. Why do they find it so difficult to put price tags on their goods they sell??? It is so frustrating. I either have to try and scan it on the machine or take it to checkout to ask the price.. Another trick that they do that I have noticed, is leave offers out that have expired! So you buy it thinking it was the offer price but low and behold is has gone up to the new price.
Starling you don't get away with it either. I would say every other visit, I buy something at the price shown and then when going to pay at the checkout it's another price (always more)!
Come on sort your s!"!% out

Its not just Lemar and Starling: they all do it (or dont do it as the case may be(), even Shah( which I find overall most efficient as well as more user friendly) leaves whole shelves unpriced from time to time. Not to mention having to lean over the frozen food cabinets in an effort to decipher wihich price relates to which item! Maybe working on thetheory of some "posh" London shops "If you have to ask the price you can't afford it"

331 views only 1 opinion! So it’s a pain but buyer beware. Put it in the basket and double check. If it’s not the price you want make them put it back on the shelf. Honouring the shelf price doesn’t seem to exist. Hey ho it’s Cyprus

I have posted on 'dodgy' pricing before and made my views abundantly clear, as you will see here - never EVER accept it, stand your ground!

Erulku are probably the best for accurate pricing and for the whole shopping experience. We've met many people who come up from the South to shop there. Their prices are much cheaper and you get a free gift for every 100 TL you spend.

Starling supermarkets are horrendous for not displaying prices and even displayed you can guarantee you pay more than advertised. got to be like a hawk watching it being scanned at the checkout. lemar are good for refunding if advertised wrong price and overcharging (they have been for me personally anyway) make sure you keep receipts and check scrupulously as sometimes they appear fine but upon double checking you most likely find they've scanned something twice!

If only they would slow down a bit at the check outs - my other grouse is the way after I have carefully sorted my goods into categories, they throw everything higgeldy piggelty through the check out and stuff it into bags with the butter contaminated by bleach and shampoo!
"Stand your ground " is all very well, but not much fun if your arthritic legs are aching, you need to get home to let the dogs out before puddles develop , AND there is a long queue behind getting very impatient in two languages!

yes i agree with you there ragged robin. sometimes they are that quick they try help pack, not good when they mix stuff together that shouldn't share a bag is it. i had to stop the cashier putting a hot cooked chicken into a bag with butter and chocolate . she didn't understand why i whipped the chicken out quick, she just stood looking at me like i was strange. the mind boggles

So where do you get your food, toilet paper, soap powder and and other household goods from? All the Supermarkets within the area I can reach do it, and the supplies in village shops are limited, partiuclaly fruit.pc4854 wrote:do what we do -VOTE WITH YOUR FEET!

Erulku. It involves a drive but as frontman stated, it is a super, supermarket. It's a weekly task for us with local top up as necessary.

As I try and use my large "long life" bags obtained from Sha I can't afford to be picky about what goes in what bag. All I care about is NOT to use a plastic carrier.

You strike me as the kind of responsible lady who meticulously lines her kitchen and bathroom bins, and makes sure that obnoxious substances are carefully wrapped before putting them in the outside dustbin. : smile: Where do you get the liners? and what are they made of? Plastic I assume and you must buy them from a Supermarket. What is the difference from reusing plastic shopping bags, except that if anything it generates more plastic waste and makes more money for the Supermarket chains who are clever about the ways they coin it in.
You must also have a better than average memory - or more money! Most of us buy more than we intended and need extra carriers, and call off when we didn't start out to shop and don't have a bag with us.
I think the Supermarkets need to educate their staff before they take more advantage of their customers. I usually take a cool box with me and put two small strong reusable bags (a present from another type of shop) to carry heavy items such as bottles of water, and fruit - thus at least reducing the number of plastic bags I use. Result: The check out girl stares blankly at the cool bag as if it had dropped from outer space and she had never seen such a thing. While I am explaining its purpose in a mixture of gesture and pigeon Turkish, another member of staff is merrily stuffing plastic bags with my other shopping, and the reusable bags are blithely ignored!
I certainly dont think it is worth risking food poisoning by not checking what the staff are putting in whatever type of bag!

Re: Price Labels/Tags at Supermarkets
On the contrary RR I try and reuse newspapers for wrapping up the "obnoxious fumes" and would never ever consider buying special plastic liners for poo bins and the like. My main point was directed at those people who insist on separate plastic bags for different types of shopping. I abhor plastic and try and avoid it when ever possible. Anyway the original thread was about mis-pricing. I totally agree about not being able to read most pf the prices in the frozen foods department. If can't easily find a price, then I don't buy. Simple as that. There is rarely anything I can't live without!!
