On a quick read through I noted a response from Soner to my report/complaint of an unusually large number of repeats from one particular advertiser.
I made a mental note to reply thanking Soner for his courtesy when I had more time. Imagine my chagrin when returning I found the thread closed.

Therefore I thank you Soner for the courtesy in responding and answering and not insisting I waste time by repeating a third time. I am sorry you found the matter trivial and can only say that my main concern was to maintain or rather try to restore the quality of a forum that has such potential for usefulness but is slipping downhill. Actually, I probably would not have wasted more of my own time following up my earlier reports if the advertiser had not doubled the number of posts which I felt was really taking the ...........er..................mickey..

I am well aware - it is only too obvious - that this forum relies on advertising revenue, but surely it is a circular argument because to attract advertisement you have to have active and interesting discussions to attract people to the forum in the first place.

Anyway good luck with your projects Soner and hope you are able to return here soon.

Meanwhile, if anyone understands why advertisers think that repetition of the same post on the same day will encourage good will and sell properties wish they would exlain it to me because the philolosophy of this strategy defeats me.

The forum is for everyone......some may use it for advice, some to share information, ask for help, to debate or even see it as an exchange and mart to buy/sell items. People use the forum for lots of different reasons.

Similarly the layout and function of the forum may not meet everyone’s expectations; for example some people don’t like the different categories but in the main it works well.

The forum relies on revenue provided by businesses to keep it going and as Soner explained they do have the right and are encouraged to post in various sections. Businesses advertise on the forum because it has a growing membership and is a place they can gain exposure. At the end of the day if you don’t like a post or see multiple posts don’t read them, just scroll on down.

Some people don’t like the way the forum is moderated; maybe they think a topic is closed to early, left to run to long, mods take to long to action reports or don’t reply or respond as quickly as some would want. We know we can never please everyone all of the time. However; given the number of members, the forum runs well and the need to issue a warning or ban a forum member is rare.

The forum is not perfect and will never meet everyone’s requirements but far from going downhill it is firmly established as the top forum for those who have an interest or need information on what is happening in North Cyprus.

It really is quite simple, if a post doesn't interest you then don't read it, it's not compulsory to read every single item on the forum.
If anything is going to spoil this forum it's people continually harping on and complaining because not everything comes up to their personal preference for the content of a public forum.

I have to support RR over this issue.

7 consecutive identical posts is most definitely OTT and, quite frankly, irritating to the extent of being a 'turnoff'.

I completely fail to understand that because you are a paying advertiser it is OK to do what one likes. Posting guide lines should apply to all.

By all means repeat the ad on relevant different boards to get the message across to a readership of differing interests but 5 consecutive identical posts on the same board is just ridiculous.

tt.

BTW - I am wondering why the Forum time display is stiil on Summertime?

I have had a look at the multiple posts by one company and normally this company makes the same post in three different sections of the forum. This is allowed as they have their own business section and the other two sections that they post in is acceptable. They obviously believe Kibkom gives them good exposure and are contributing to the forum by paying to advertise. Without this revenue the forum would not exist.

However in this instance it appears that the same post was repeated five times over a 10 minute period in the same forum section. I believe that this could possibly have been posted numerous times in error or possibly as a result of a glitch on the forum. Plus it also appeared in two other forum sections. This would then make it seem that there were an excessive number of posts on the same subject.

I will highlight to the forum owner and will monitor.

Thanks PiD, I did not see this. It may well be a glitch in the system. Thanks for monitoring.

Thanks RR, please do not use Active posts if duplicate posts annoy you. However, you will find that businesses that post about their company usually do so in spouts and not on a daily basis, they sometime do not post for months on end.

tt, thanks for highlighting issue of multiple posts in same category.

The point everyone is missing is that this is not a single instance. There had been three identical posts on two or three occasions before I mentioned it on the ForumI. Keith advised me not to post on the forum but email Soner or the Mods, but I did not think it important enough to do that, so I pressed the "Report" button the next time it occurred I got no response and would have forgotten it ))I do have rather more vital concerns) except that then I was struck by a seven identical posts which I thought ott and ( as Report had not worked) I did another post on the forum. I do NOT open posts which do not interest me, but to often the heading is misleading. The multiple posts were only too obvious on first glance at the forum to decide which to look at. I know one can double post by mistake but this was too much and too often and I believe was either a serious breach of the rules or a computer error either by the advertiser or in the forum. However in view of the response I willl not try to help the forum again. Indeed (like others who have left) I may not come again. I am really getting rather tired of being treated by the mods and some posters as a mentall retarded four year old.

RR, not everybody has missed the point as multiple posts by a certain estate agent for the same property irritates me. I would never use this company for this very reason, nor would I recommend it either. However, the Forum Owner has stated it is an acceptable practice and the moderators permit it, so I have to abide by the decision or leave.

Please understand that this forum cannot function without advertising revenue, that is a fact. Companies that choose to advertise do so because they believe this to be the number 1 forum for North Cyprus and would provide good exposure to promote there business.

Some companies have there own dedicated section on the forum plus they advertise in other appropriate areas of the forum. This is usually a total of 3 or 4 different sections.

As I have tried to explain it appears that a company recently posted 5 times in one section plus a further 2 times in different sections. The 5 posts appear to have been done in error or could possibly have been a glitch on the forum. The forum owner is aware and I will monitor to see if it happens again.

In summary a paying business is allowed to advertise across a few different areas on the forum. If this appears excessive then mods will take action. If you don’t want to read the posts just scroll down. In the big scheme of things it’s not that important and as a couple have mentioned when they see multiple posts it puts them off using the company.

Explanations have been given and hopefully we can move on.

I would have thought that if they put that much effort into selling property they would be first choice to many… They seem to be doing their job and earning the commission as far as I can see ?

How about cutting down the number of catagories on the forum. That would feduce the number of multiple posts

Categories on the forum comes up every so often for discussion. However categories are there to help people search or find information easily.

Of course not everyone agrees but in the main different categories work well for the majority of members.
