Post by Keithcaley »

I'll start this off with the menu from Calamari on the 'Lapta Strip' - £30 a head

Its not pricey considering the standard of Calamari . Also taking into account that many items served are more expensive here. Realistically this should be priced at 45.00 stg.

30,00 for full Christmas lunch. That's very good value. Described by one lady as Top notch food and faultless service.

Very good star rating on T.A.

To me the menu is very basic and for £30 I would have thought more imagination could have gone into the wording of the menu items.
Soup - What kind of soup?
Pate - Chicken, Pork etc.
Roast Beef- what cut sirloin, topside?
Roast Pork - Leg, shoulder?
What is the Vegetarian option?
As I said. Too basic for my taste.

How much would you pay for Xmas lunch on Xmas day in the UK?, a lot more than £30 I'm sure.

IPMAN
If that is a Christmas Dinner/Lunch menu. Our local Greasy Spoon could do far better and a lot cheaper.

What point a UK/TRNC comparison? Chalk and cheese! The local market dictates cost.

Ari pointer - Keith Caley opened the thread to help people with options of Christmans lunches - If I were him I would be insulted at your rather negative remarks. Get to your local greasy spoon if thats what you want - I am sure no one on here is even slightly interested in where or what YOU do!
Thanks for trying Keith!

Totaly agree IPMAN, the thread is supposed to help those aside. Yes the menu is a bit poor but this is not a country that traditionally supports Christmas nor is it a country with gastronomic maestros. The restaurant is at least trying to cater.

Please can you post menus as you come across them for us all to see and make a choice.
Some are wise and some otherwise.....

Keiths original posting was for a Christmas day menu,i find it hard to believe that the menu posted by thickey,£19 for 2 courses is for Christmas day.
