Re: Insurance at Pyla
I thought I had the number, but I've lost it. The woman's name is Rabiya, as you go through the crossing there is house with a table outside and a Dagli Insurance sign. Call there. Alternatively if someone is in the booth before you cross then ask there.

This is a description of the crossing at Beyarmadu/Pergamos. There is NO crossing at Pyla /Pila, a village some 3 kms from the crossing point. Pedantic, yes - accurate, yes!MoonageDaydream wrote:I thought I had the number, but I've lost it. Re: Insurance at Pyla
I think most people call it Pile/Pyla crossing simply because:
a) it is easier to say than Beyarmardu
b) Pile is the village you go through to the crossing if you're going south to north.
Most people I know also refer to the crossing on Ayios Nikolaos army base as 'Famagausta Crossing' even though it is 3-4 kms south of the town centre.
In both cases we know ehre people mean don't we?

Maybe those expats living in the TRNC may know the crossing points. However, visitors will not. There is no requirement to transit through Pila/Pyla travelling in either direction. Use junction 61 on the motorway. Most people know the other SBA crossing as Ayios Nikolias (Ay Nik or Black Knight), not Famagusta.
