Hi - we are thinking of buying and renovating a house in Lefkosa within the walled city. I am looking for peoples opinions / recommendations for the best area? Many thanks

Sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen to me. Sorry to be so negative, hopefully others might give you more positive input.

Re: Lefkosa - Renovation Project
We tried it but the big problem is finding out who owns the buildings especially in the old quarter. There are a lot of squatters in the buildings and the owners we found either did not want To sell or wanted in the region of £300, 000 for the villas. You have a load of red tape as regards the material you can use ( mud bricks for instance) so renovation is astronomical . We were quoted £200000 on our project. Lovely idea but think and do your research.

Thank you for your comments.
We are currently renovating a listed house in the Turkish Quarters Girne so we used to the restrictions etc... my enquiry was more about recommendations on area i.e is the Arabahmet area a good area - or maybe up by the Buyuk Han or any other suggestions? Many thanks.

Arabahmet is a lovely area to visit during the day, never been at night so don't know what the bars and restaurants are like regarding noise. Plenty of choice for redevelopment I would think, but good luck either way.

Hi Thickey - thank you for your interest. Here are a few.
Just as we started - then new roof going on - and the works going on in garden.
We have another house that we have finished - we are looking to sell it so if you want some picture of that happy to send? Also in Turkish Quarters with garden and parking.
Many thanks

Re: Lefkosa - Renovation Project
Did you have much trouble finding a builder who understood what you were trying to achieve with your project plans please?
I will be looking for a builder pretty soon who can follow a brief/plans to the letter.
