Large Dog Kennel Urgently Needed

I have been looking after 6 puppies which I found abandoned near Malatya since last July. Their current shelter has become too small for their needs and as a result they are starting to fight amongst themselves because of lack of space resulting in the injury of one of them that needed stapling at the vets. They are growing rapidly, the biggest weighs 25kg and are all in need of forever homes but no joy so far. Can anyone help regarding the kennel as I cannot afford to buy a new one? Tel 0533 8674699

Did you get a Kennel, Hideway? Sorry I cannot help but I have three dogs myself and not much money. However if I might, without, I hope, offence make a suggestion. I do not think a conventional kennel is an answer to your needs. Dogs have a strange attitude to personal space. Mine will brush past each other , and even sleep curled up together , but if you put them together in an enclosed space they will start s growling and once or twice snapping. Why not make a large enclosure , mostly open but with some form of roofing for part of it. Ideally it should be near or partially under a tree for shade in summer. It need not be expensive,, if you are handy or have a good friend who will help you can run it up from chicken wire and use asbetos sheeting for the roof. It might not look too good for a few months, but I did this, and with well chosen climbing plants to provide more shade and disguise the construction it is now quite an attractive feature. It is also very useful in that you can put a padlock on and lock the dogs safely in if you have nervous visitors or workmen who will leave gates open whatever you say

If you dont have space for this, see if you can get hold of some old packing cases which could be used for kennels. Provided they are warm and dry dogs really do not care a hoot what it looks like!

You are doing a great job and a public service caring for these pups. Hope you find good homes for them soon.
