A postal comparison!
On Tuesday morning I posted a birthday card to a friend in North Yorkshire from the little post office near the Coca Cola factory in Nicosia. Normal post not special delivery.
When I returned home there were three Christmas cards for us, from the UK, at the Catalkoy post office.
On Thursday morning I had a message from my friend in Yorkshire to say the card had arrived!
Hmmm! Need I say more?

I always post from the south. I have a PO box there for receiving mail. I got a Christmas card here last April from UK.

Well, Groucho, I was commenting between two services so technically that is a comparison.
Although there is no comparison with the outcomes

Apples and pears here. RoC post direct to the UK or designated country. TRNC post to Turkey for onward transmission. Delays inevitable.

It's also a fact that the directions are opposite... You can compare two heading to the same target posted simultaneously north and south... that would be a fair test to make the comparison. Otherwise it's merely an observation.

Comparison - Recorded delivery parcel from UK to TRNC P.O. Box = 10 day (UK to Istanbul = 2 days, Istanbul to P.O. Box = 8 days). Standard delivery parcel from UK to TRNC P.O. Box = "Unknown"! Time taken so far = 580 days for first parcel, 320 days for second parcel and 47 days for last parcel.
This "simple" comparison shows it is best to send all parcels via recorded delivery.

No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

Re: A postal comparison!
I am still surprised this topic keeps resurfacing.
Based here since 2006. Bought 1-2 years before. During that time I was told not to use the post, I even delivered my contract to someone at Stansted to bring over to Ian Smiths. ( This was the only time I met these people spotted by their yellow luggage. Thanks again Joandjelly)
We have better www connection now and more access to what used to be rare items what is the need? The odd things that I cannot get here I find someone to bring out. What else is there? Birthday cards? Give them a call, why do we need a piece of card to tell someone we remembered their birthday? Christmas Cards? What an over priced load of crap that turn into, a card with a robin on it for which the photographer gets nothing supposedly to aid a charity where the needy get 1% of the income because the management make corporate fat cats look slim! Skype someone at Christmas, it costs less and means more.
What was it the Australians call the British?

Hi Paul
After going through Metehan turn right and follow the road up to the traffic lights, you'll see the coca cola factory opposite the lights. Get into the left lane, after about 200yds there is a right hand turn, take this and you'll find the post office about 50 yds on your right.
Very pleasant and helpful staff in there.
