I really am not being rude but if you want help then you'll have to be a lot more informative than that. We don't even know the make you are looking for, or the size or anything.

Sophie, from the way that the question is phrased, I would guess that she's never had a smartphone before, and doesn't actually know what she wants!

tansycat, there are many 'phone shops here, but there's a good one in Girne on the road that goes to HSBC (as was!) - it's on the right hand side before you get to HSBC.

They're quite patient in there, and should be able to help you decide what you want if you don't know much about 'em...

*** Smartphones are more expensive here than in UK, but at least you don't have to bother going to pay tax, etc, which you would have to do if you bought one abroad and then brought it here.

Of course Turkcell or Telsim will sell you a 'phone, you can even get one 'on contract' if you live here - make sure that you take out insurance against loss or damage if you do go down that route though, 'cos if you lose the 'phone, you still have to keep paying for the period of the contract!

*** - or perhaps not, according to posts 4 & 6 !

Try the Telsim / Vodafone shop in Girne (down the hill from the Belediye square, just passed the cross roads on the left hand side). The phones on display all have prices on, we bought two last week in there, asked for a discount for buying 2 and they knocked £10.00 off. We already had Turkcell phone sim cards so we used them. We were very surprised, as the phones were cheaper than in the UK and that was based on Amazon prices.

Is the original poster even in the Girne area? The vagueness of some posts for help/advice beggars belief. Give us a fair chance to help you.

I bought a 2017 Samsung J3 in a shop on the right hand side of the high street in Kyrenia. It's on the corner of the first left turning. They were very helpful and spoke good English. It was 1250TL which is actually cheaper than the same phone bought SIM free in the UK and is automatically registered here. The price was similar from Turkcell but they didn't have the colour I wanted available. There were cheaper options but I wanted a 2017 phone. I'm very happy with it.
