I would like to hear if anybody else has had any issues as I have never lost a wallet but now the last 2 flights out of Larnaca on Blue Air I have had my wallet stolen.
The first time last November I put it down to carelessness even though that is not in my nature, now today the same again even though I was 100% sure my wallet was back in my front trouser pocket after the security checks.
I have emailed Blue Air advising that I do not consider this to be a coincidence.

Hello,
Worth thinking about but not sure whether relevant in this case, in the last couple of years there have been at various airports, people working in teams booking low cost air fares with a view to posing as genuine travellers going through security , when through then helping themselves to other persons money and property out of the trays.
Having helped themselves continued on to catch their low cost flight to another location to do the same again.
I have often seen wallets placed in full view in the security tray sitting there waiting for the owner who has now been sent through the scanner again and then searched.
I now hide my wallet in my hand luggage before sending it through the scanner, I also try to put my tray at the back of the queue to enable me to get through scanner before the tray arrives and keep my eye on it.
The persons that were arrested were Romanian and admitted this was how they operate.
As most people carry large amounts of holiday cash when travelling you can see how lucrative this would be even when deduction of the low cost air fare is taken into account.

A fairly recent problem at Heathrow were criminals flying up and down between say, Manchester & Heathrow. Then being airside after passengers had gone through security and were feeling more secure and relaxed, took their eyes off of their handbags, cabin baggage and laptop bags. The criminals then simply stole one or more and walked straight to the gate room of their next flight or passed onto an accomplice that was leaving earlier. They then dropped off the stolen item at their chosen airport and returned to do the same.
