IM A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG PUPPY GUN DOG...I THINK IM 6MTHS OLD AND MY OWNER/HUNTERS HAVE DUMPED ME IN THE RAVINE AND LEFT ME TO STARVE.....

THIS POOR LITTLE MITE TURNED UP OUTSIDE MY GATE,WHICH IS BY THE RAVINE IN CATALKOY...ITS WAS HANGING AROUND FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS UNTIL STARVATION MADE IT BRAVE ENOUGHT TO CRAWL UNDER MY GATE AND WHIMPER AND SCRATCH AT MY DOOR...ONLY TROUBLE IS,I HAVE A ROTTWEILLER WHO IS NOT TOO GOOD WITH DOGS AND WILL DEFINITELY EAT THE POOR THING IF HE GETS IT...NEIGHBOURS TOLD ME NOT TO FEED IT,BUT I HAVENT THE HEART TO SEE THIS ANIMAL STARVE..IT HAS NOW BECOME A PROBLEM TO MY NEIGHBOURS AND WE JUST DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.
I HAVE CAUGHT IT AND TOOK IT TO K.A.R...BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY CANNOT TAKE IT...
IT IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PUP,THAT IS DESPERATELY TRYING TO MAKE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE...IT WAGS ITS TAIL AND DANCES AROUND WHEN IT SEES ME...IT HAS A LOVELY TEMPERAMENT.I WOULD KEEP IT IF I DIDNT HAVE A ROTTIE...BUT I JUST CANT...I KNOW BRUTUS WILL KILL IT FOR SURE.

PLEASE,PLEASE CAN SOMEONE FIND IT WITHIN THIER HEARTS TO HELP THIS POOR WRETCH AND GIVE IT A LOVING FAMILY HOME....IVE KNOWN DOGS ALL MY LIFE AND WITH A BIT OF TRAINING,I KNOW THIS ANIMAL WILL BECOME A LOVING,FAITHFUL FRIEND...
I HATE TO SAY THIS....BUT IF K.A.R WONT TAKE IT...AND IF I DONT GET A CALL FROM ANYONE SOON..IM AFRAID I HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO "DUMP" THIS POOR ANIMAL IN A POPULATED AREA IN THE HOPE SOMEONE WILL TAKE IT IN.....OTHERWISE I KNOW MY ROTTIE WILL HARM IT....

What a desperately sad story. I sincerely hope you are able to find a kind soul to take this dog in.

I despair at the animal situation in NC; I know KAR do their very best but it is heartbreaking to see posts such as yours on the forums, day in and day out.

Hope this is not too off topic as it affects a similar problem in Sinai - an English Woman is trying to look after loads of street dogs. Anyway she has come up with a re-homing program and maybe KAR or other dog lovers can do something similar for the TRNC street dogs?. Here is the link anyway

What a sad wasted journey. Does anyone know KAR policy on abandoned distressed young animals.

I am a donor and a life member and becoming increasingly concerned at the number of reported refused animals. I appreciate resources are finite. If the kennels are full presumabley the core activity of rescue is suspended until.....

I think that KAR's web page answers most of the questions as to what they do, how they do it, what problems they face etc. And if the info is not found there, there is a telephone number. I always think it is best to get info from the horses mouth , where possible (evenif it is to do with dogs and cats!)

We caught a street cat that had kittens, we waited till the kittens were old enough and took the mum in for the operation, we then caught the kittens and took them to KAR we offered to pay for all the ops and the food and care if KAR would keep them for 3 months until we came back here, they refused. We had no choice but to put the kittens back where we got them from so now there are more street cats to add to the list. I let them know that there was an injured tagged dog that looked like it had been kicked or hit with a car they said they would take a look but to my knowledge they didnt come out, and the dogs hip looks like its healed in the wrong place and now he has a permanent limp and cant run. I stopped my donations to KAR and look after the cats instead.

Because they have limited resources. If they help 10 animals and turn away 10 animals, that is still better than doing nothing for all 20. If they help 10 animals and turn away 100 that is still better than doing nothing for all 110. Is that really so hard to understand ?

Perhaps you can explain how a charity with limited resources can possibly take in an unlimited number of animals ?

It is the same old tired 'argument' over and over again. Because KAR does not help in a given specific instance then all the good work it DOES do, all the animals it HAS helped is written off as worthless and the orgnisation attacked, usually by anoymous posters. KAR will NEVER be able to help in every case, just as OXFAM is not able to rid the world of child hunger, poverty and treatable illnesses. To argue because OXFAM can not help in every single case of such things , then it is a worthless organisation, is to me a ridiculous notion and in essence no different from the argument that unless KAR take in EVERY animal in distress it is a worthless organisation.

My point is the emotive description of 'they said GO AWAY' vs one of 'they said we are unable to help in this case'. The later is almost certainly much closer to the truth in this specific case, but the former is how you chose to portray it. Personaly I have to wonder why you made such a choice.

Sadly, it would appear the animal has not yet been found a home. And unfortunately the persn to whom I passed the details did not flal in love with the photo. So, I am happy to reiterate the request of poster No.1 will anyone give this animal a home.

What KAR can or will or might do, is not what the thread is about. it is about finding a home for this particular dog. Really sorry I cannot help, but I do hope that someone out there can.!

hi all...i sttill havent found anyone to take this poor dog in......
im getting really desperate now,and so is the poor little wretch...i cant have it in the house,so its been outside in the wind and the rain.
im very disappointed,looks like this plea has turned into an excuse for people on here to slag off k.a.r or just generally use it to have a go att on another...how sad.

Brutus: I sympathise with your predicament. But it is not just a matter of giving the dog a home, which is not difficult, dogs dont have to live in houses (though most prefer it) - any rough shelter from the elements in an enclosed garden will do, or a carport or open shed with a cardboard box and old clothes, curtains or bedding for a bed.

It does not just need a home it needs: Checking with a vet for disease, Neutering, de-flea and ticking, bathing, eyes, ears and teeth cleaned and probably claws clipped, vaccination and registration. At a very rough calculation in the region of 200 to 300TL (well over £100) before you start feeding it, then Vets fees, at the very least once a year for vaccination and registration once a year, worming and insect repellants every three months for up to l8 years. And then excercise, and paying someone to feed it when you are on holiday or ill. Food, if you are prrepared to cook for them, instead of buying expensive prepreared , is the least of it! And there is the potential of very expensive Vets fees is the animal does get ill, and now Pet Insurance or Green cross here. Quite a commitment for someone, probably on a pension and maybe getting older and finding it hard to give young healthy dogs enough excercise. Most of us who care enough to take on such a financial and time consuming responsibility already have as many or more than enough ex strays than we can cope with.

Plus, this particular dog looks out of proportion to me. Hopefully it is just undernourishment and/or camera angle but it should be checked by a Vet to make sure it doesnt have a bone deficiency which might involve expensive treatment - or mean euthanesia is the kindnest option for it.

Dogs are not happy in kennels and if kept there too long , may become impossible to domesticate. They want human company. What is needed is an organisation to support and help (if necessary financial) people who care for animals (not just dogs) ; campaign against the current anti dog publicity and encourage mutual help and dog sharing(eg putting together people who can home a dog but not excercise it with the reverse).

Forget arguing about KAR. That is not how they see their role, and they are not prepared to enter into discussion with those who contribute to their funds, and you are knocking your head against a brick wall if you try to influence them, Each individual should learn as much as they can about what KAR do (including what they see as political influence) and make their own decision whether to support them.

Think about how as individual we could combine resources to help at least a few of the strays to a better life, and also support people like Brutus who are faced with an untenable situation not of their making.

over two years ago a kind lady put my photo on forum 44 as i didnt have a home , over 1000 people read my story but only one person came to look at me ( I am a black dog as well ) ..we fell in love and I went home with her ...I am a very good girl and my family say its the best thing they have done .....please give this dog a home someone it will love you forever and you wont regret it ....it looks very much like me I wonder if we are related ?? .....Olive x
